Mrs. Carolyn Woods

WOODS, Mrs. Carolyn - Age 71, passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at Hurley Medical Center. Family Hour 11:00 AM Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at International Gospel Center, G-4126 Fenton Rd., with funeral service commencing at 12:00 PM Pastor Gillie Harris Sr. officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy., Mt. Morris, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11:00 AM Wednesday. Mrs. Woods will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM Tuesday. Mrs. Carolyn Elizabeth Weymon Woods was born January 7, 1947 in Memphis, Tennessee, the daughter of Mr. Egune Redick and Ms. Getrude Weymon. She attended Manassas High School where she met and married, Mr. Charles Lee Woods. To this union five children were born, Charles Lee Woods Jr., Amanda Elizabeth Woods, Marcus Lashone Woods, Alicia Renee Woods and Tamala Michelle Woods. Mrs. Woods moved to Flint, Michigan where she completed her high school education graduating from Mott Adult High School. She went on to obtain a Master’s degree from Mott Community College. After leaving college Mrs. Woods taught GED Preparatory Classes at the Genesee County Jail and the Zimmerman Center. In 1973, she gave her life to Christ and joined International Gospel Center in Ecorse, MI under then Pastor Charles O. Miles Sr. Mrs. Woods was very active and faithful to her church, International Gospel Center-Flint branch under the leadership of Pastor Gillie Harris Jr. where she was an Ordained Evangelist and Sunday School Teacher until the Lord called her home. Mrs. Carolyn Elizabeth Weymon Woods leaves to cherish her memory: 3 daughters, Amanda Elizabeth (Jack) Tartt, Alicia Renee Woods and Tamala Michelle Woods; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Patricia Appling, Rita Dorsey of Mt. Morris, MI and Joyce (Egune) Morris of Grand Blanc, MI; 3 brothers, James (Lacerine) Ferguson of Memphis, TN, Gregory Sr. (Rotricia) Ferguson and Raymond Dorsey, all of Flint; 6 aunts, Hortense Neyland-Walton, Vala Stewart, both of Flint, Cora Stewart of Ohio, Margaret Stewart of Colorado, Grace Stewart of Memphis, TN and Augurine Stewart of Boothville, LA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends including special friends, Carol Cook-Pawkstis, Cecillia McNeal, Leola Richardson, Barbra Ferguson, Chise Thomas and the International Gospel Center Church family. Mrs. Woods was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Lee Woods Sr.; 2 sons, Charles Lee Woods Jr. and Marcus Lashone Woods; grandson, Michael Sweeney; parents, Egune Redick and Getrude Dorsey; and grandmother, Nellie Stewart; brothers, Richard Ferguson, Ronald Dorsey, Harold Dorsey and David Ferguson.
