CALHOUN, Mr. Carl Martell - Age 34, passed away Friday, April 24, 2026. Family hour 11:00 AM Monday, May 4, 2026, at House of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church, 1851 W. Carpenter Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11:30 AM Pastor Derrick Bass officiating., Pastor Dequan Ford, Host Pastor. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery, G4200 Belford Rd., Holly, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11:00 AM Monday. Mr. Calhoun will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed from 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM Sunday. Mr. Carl Martell Calhoun, age 34, passed away on April 24, 2026, Leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter and unforgettable memories. Born on June 27, 1991, to his devoted mother Carla Bell. Carl was the light of her life and the pride of his family. He was lovingly raised by his stepfather, Gene Bell a steady, guiding presence who helped shape the man Carl became. Carl graduated from Northern High School in 2009. Shortly after, he proudly joined the United States Army, where he served with honor. He Married Rose Lester in 2011, separated in 2012, and later retired from the Army in 2019 with an Honorable Discharge. Carl is deeply mourned by: his beloved children, Carlyn Calhoun, Carl Calhoun, Jr., Carla Nae Hilton, Carlton Calhoun, Cyndi Shahid, Shakur Calhoun and Sy’Aire Hicks. His children were the joy of his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them. Also survived by his siblings, LaGena (Diablo) and Gimera Bell, Jalynn Curl; grandmother, Brenda Calhoun; uncle, William Carrington; aunts, Carmel Carrington, Doretha Stone and Alberta Bell; treasured niece and nephews, London Redd, Grayson Bell and Landon Edwards. Carl’s heart was big, his humor unmatched, and his loyalty unwavering. He loved swimming, spending time with all his children, and being surrounded by family and friends. His presence brought warmth, laughter and comfort to every room he entered. He will also be remembered by favorite cousins, Dewan Carrington, Brittney (Nate) Malone, Britanicia and Brenda Frazier, Chris and Tony Bell, Leondra Sparks and TaNaya Cannon; close friends, Tatianya Pettigrew, Dujuan Urquhart, Ardre Brown, Joseph Nelson, Anthony Bowe, Amad Chapman, Raquelle Person, Jaquan Brisby and special friend, Shaniqua McGill. Carl shared meaningful bonds with the mothers of his precious children – his “Jewels”, Chuntey Tippins, Rose Calhoun, LaKeia Towns, Quandra Hilton, Nikoyia Shahib and Sophia Hicks. Carl Calhoun was blessed with an extended family who loved him unconditionally, including Ricky and Richard Conliffe, Cornelia Marks, Shawn and Lauragrita Conliffe, Melissa (Marc) Harrison and Ricky Conliffe, Jr. Carl was preceded in death by his grandfather, Carl Calhoun; great-grandparents, Mary (Charles) Young, Jimmy (Luvenia) Buggs and Charlie and Millie Barton; cousins, Gary Manuel, Janice Calhoun and Dontavis Moore.
