MOSLEY, Ms. Betty Jean - Age 75, passed away Thursday, December 5, 2024, at McLaren-Flint. Family hour 10:00 AM Monday, December 16, 2024, at 2nd Chance Church, 2070 Coldwater Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Pastor Derrick Aldridge, officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy, Mt. Morris. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00 AM Monday. Ms. Mosley will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 10:00AM-4:00PM Sunday, with family present from 2:00PM-4:00PM to receive friends. Ms. Betty Jean Mosley was born April 17, 1949, in San Jose, California, the eldest child of Washington “Sam” and Ceolia Mosley. As a child, Betty attended Flint Public Schools graduating from Flint Northwestern High School. She furthered her education and received an associate’s degree from Mott Community College and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan-Flint. Betty was employed by the State of Michigan as a caseworker from 1985 until her retirement in 2008. Her previous employment includes serving as a Youth Specialist at Whaley Children’s Center and the Flint Residential Care Center and as a Pharmaceutical Technician for Kmart before her employment with the state in 1980. Betty accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Foss Avenue Baptist Church by the late Reverend Dr. Avery Aldridge. She was a dedicated and an active member of Second Chance Church, under the leadership of Pastor Derrick Aldridge, where she served on the nurses and food services ministries. She was also a dedicated member of the Flint Neighborhood Coalition. Betty loved her children, grandchildren and family dearly. She was affectionately known as Pookie, a name lovingly given to her by her grandson Jayce because of her unconditional love and devotion. Betty enjoyed shopping, travelling, reading, painting and especially seasonal decorating. Her Christmas tree looked like it came out of a magazine. Betty left an indelible impact on the many lives she touched, and she will be sorely missed. Ms. Betty Jean Mosley leaves to cherish her memory: devoted sons, Rodney (Michelle) Mosley of Ypsilanti, MI and Christopher Russell of Flint, MI; grandchildren, Jayce Russell and Cayden Russell; loving mother, Ceolia Mosley of Flint Township, MI; sister, Juanita Mosley of Flint, MI; 2 brothers, Raymond Mosley of Flint Township, MI and Leon Bobo of Memphis, TN; aunt (big sister) Cleora (Percy) Magee of Flint, MI; nephew, Samuel “Emile” (Mari-Jo) Mosley of Grand Blanc, MI; 4 nieces, Kandice (Michael) Thomas and Makayla Mosley of Flint MI, Karyn Boutte and Jakyliah Grant, both of Saginaw MI; 2 aunts, Mary Mitchell of Flint, MI and Hattie Gatewood of West Memphis, AR; 2 uncles, James (Elaine) Farrow and Arthur (Diane) McGee Sr. of Flint, MI; God-Son, Clydaryl D. Lester of Little Rock, AR, and host of cousins, relatives and friends, including special friends Rose Lester-Green of Little Rock, AR and Linda Wynn of Flint, MI. Ms. Betty Jean Mosley was preceded in death by her father, Washington Samuel “Sam” Mosley Jr.; grandparents, Lelea McGee, Jimmy McGee Sr., Washington and Gertrude Mosley and L.D. Farrow; sister, Linda Mosley; brother, Samuel Mosley; aunts, Vera Fryer and Doris Jordan; uncles, Jimmy McGee Jr., John Henry Mosley, Ollie Fryer, Sam Jordan and Fred Gatewood. The family would like to express special thanks to the 5th Floor ICU Nursing staff of McLaren-Flint Hospital, Breanne Jefferson, Sheinta Poplar, Pastor Derrick Aldridge and the Second Chance Church family and the Lawrence E.
