Bethany Gayden

GAYDEN, Ms. Bethany J. - Age 65, answered the Lord’s call on Monday, September 20, 2010 at her residence. Family hour will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2010 at 10 a.m., with funeral service commencing immediately after at 11 a.m., at Greater Holy Temple Church of God In Christ, 6702 N. Dort Hwy. Bishop Roger L. Jones, Sr., officiating. Interment Evergreen Cemetery, 3415 E. Hill Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church at 10 a.m. Saturday. Ms. Gayden now lies in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. She may be viewed from 2 p.m. - 8 p.m. Friday, September 24, 2010, with the family present to receive friends from 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. Ms. Bethany Jean Gayden was born on October 18, 1944 in Flint, Michigan the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew “Buster” and Dessie M. (Tyms) Gayden, Sr. She professed a hope in Christ at an early age at Greater Holy Temple Church of God In Christ where she was a member for over 45 years and served on the Hospitality Committee and the Usher Board Ministry. Bethany was educated in the Flint Community Public Schools and graduated from Flint Northern High School “Class of 1962”. She retired from Delphi, then a division of General Motors, with over 42 years of dedicated service. Bethany was the life of any social event from the doctor’s office to Sunday morning service. She loved to crochet and made the most beautiful baby blankets and Afghans. She was an avid bowler and loved spending time with her family, especially her one and only grandson, Jamille and her beloved sisters, Yvonne, Patricia and Sharon. She leaves in God’s care her loving and devoted daughter, Evangelist Yvette M. Gayden-Martin of Grand Blanc, MI; devoted son, Staff Sargent, Anthony (Richella) Gayden of Camp Humphrey, Korea; grandson, Jamille A. Phillips, Jr. of Grand Blanc, MI; 3 granddaughters, Tiffany L. Martin of Grand Blanc, MI, Jazzlin and Dominique Gayden; great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Gayden, all of San Antonio, TX; 3 sisters, Yvonne (John) Royster of Detroit, MI, Patricia A. Mayfield of Flint, Sharon M. Holmes of Grand Blanc, MI; 2 brothers, Andrew (Nina) Gayden, Jr. of Flushing, MI, Elder Alvin L. Gayden of Flint; aunt, Willa Mae Wheat of Flint. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives including Evangelist Deirdre G. Pitts, Kevin L. Mayfield, Johnnie Turner, godchildren, Jaylen Brown and Efrem Blackwell. Ms. Gayden was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew “Buster” and Dessie Gayden, Sr. The family wishes to express a very special thanks to Bishop and Mrs. Roger L. (Sandra) Jones, Sr. and the entire Greater Holy Temple Church of God In Christ family, Cheryl Johnson and the Wells, Hawkins, Marshalls and Kelly Families.
