Mrs. Bernice Virginia Venerable

VENERABLE, Mrs. Bernice Virginia - Age 89, passed away Saturday, November 5, 2016 at Sparrow Hospital - Lansing, MI. Family hour 10:00 AM Saturday, November 12, 2016 at Metropolitan Baptist Tabernacle, 930 E. Myrtle Ave., with funeral services commencing at 11:00 AM. Interment Sunset Hills Association, G-4413 Flushing Rd., Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00 AM Saturday. Mrs. Venerable will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM Friday. Mrs. Bernice V. Venerable was born May 4, 1927 in Jericho, AR, the daughter of Madden and Sarah Robinson, Frankie and Bernice, also known as “Honey Pie”. Sister Bernice Venerable was united in Holy Matrimony on September 10, 1945 to Samuel Venerable and to this union 3 children were born, Samuel Jr., Robert “Toad” and Willie. Sister Venerable was baptized at the age of 14 and taught Sunday school in Memphis, TN., She and her husband relocated to Flint, MI and she got a job working for General Motors, Fisher Body, where she later retired from after 30 years of service. Sister Venerable hard work instilled in her sons getting an education and opened doors to opportunity. She loved to travel, play poker, Pokeno and going to Soaring Eagle where the thrill of pushing slot machine buttons and seeing those sizzling “7’s” come up (smile). Due to Sister Venerable’s health she was unable to attend her church home so the Deacons would call her from Metropolitan Tabernacle for prayer each week on Wednesday. Mrs. Bernice V. Venerable leaves to cherish her memory; sons, Robert Venerable of Flint, Willie Venerable of Lansing, MI; grandchildren, Rashawn Venerable of Ohio, Kelly Venerable of Flint and Derrick Ampy of CA; great-grandchildren Collette, Gabreil, Stephan, Kayla Venerable and Zoey Ampy; step-children, Tammiesha, Kamica, L.C. and Patrice Wilson; step- grandchildren, Asia, Asinay, Nevah, Claudia, Savaria, Andrew, Catalaya, Omena, Oloya, Supreme Nazere The Family of Mrs. Bernice Venerable wishes to thank everyone for their love and support during their mother’s illness. Thanks to the Metropolitan Baptist Tabernacle Family for the help preparing the church and service for our mom’s home going. Robert and I are truly grateful. Special thanks to Ronald Moore for helping Mrs. Venerable keep up her lawn ok and run errands for her when she was unable. Thanks to Tasha Allen, mom’s care provider, she was truly “God sent”; to the Peckham family in Lansing MI, Robert and I hope you continue to pray for us. To Dan Stevens, my supervisor at Peckham, thanks for completing the wheel chair ramp which I had envisioned mom would use once she was better. She is smiling today.
