SIMS, Mother Audrey Ann - Age 73, passed away Friday, March 5, 2010 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Family hour 10 a.m. Friday, March 12, 2010 at Mt. Hermon Missionary Baptist Church, G-5283 Clio Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m., Dr. K.D. Yarber officiating. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10 a.m. Friday. Mother Sims will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12Noon-8 p.m. Thursday. Mother Audrey Ann Sims was born June 20, 1936 in Uniontown, PA, the daughter Ruth Inez Sims and Joseph Garrett. Mother Sims was a resident of Flint since 1959, relocating from Middletown, Connecticut. She accepted Christ early in life and was ordained in the Ministry in 1975, while under the leadership of Rev. B. J. Burgess. Mother Sims was a member of Mt. Herman Missionary Baptist Church, where she served on the Mother’s Board, as a Missionary, Senior Choir member and taught the Young Matron’s. She loved reading her Bible, Praising the Lord and helping others. Mother Audrey Ann Sims leaves to cherish her memory: 2 daughters, Lydia A. Parham (fiancée Birney Sullivan) and Beverly Sims, all of Flint; 2 sons, Darrell L. Sims of Flint and Jerome (Diane) Sims of Killeen, TX; grandchildren, Samara (Eddie) Hough of Bellville, MI, Clarice L. Mastin, Tynee’ A. Sims, Jerome Sims, Jr., Mathew Jones, Jamiar Thornton and Destinie Wieman; great-grand son, Chris Hough; sister, Jean (Roy) Jones of Buffalo, NY; brother, Franklin W. (Geraldine) Pleasant Jr. of Flint; god-daughters, Deborah Millings, Natalia Allen-Taylor and Sherry Kiff; god-sons, Jeff Glover and Earnest Gloster; god-granddaughter, Pam Jones; god-great-granddaughter, Karizma Alexander all of Flint; god-sister, Reba Mae Walker; nieces, Carmella E. Jones of Seabrook, MD, Stephanie (Clifford) Whiteside of Lansing, MI, Gala (Wayne) Sanford of Buffalo, NY, Villia (Edmund) Davidson of Columbus, OH, Danielle Pleasant, Tonya Anderson of Flint, Karla Bolds and Angela Lee; nephews, Franklin W. Pleasant III and Carl Tedford; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Rosie Doyle, Rose Small, the Mt. Herman Missionary Baptist Church Family and Kith Haven Nursing Home. Mother Sims was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth I. Pleasant and Joseph Garrett; sister, Rev. Villia “Mae” Jones; brother, James A. Sims; great-grandmother, Ada Moon Whitfield; niece and nephew, Andrea (Elbert) Cummings; uncle and aunt, Nathaniel (Doris) Sims; son-in-law, John O. Parham.
