MATTHEWS, Mrs. Annie - Age 86, the Lord called Annie home on March 14, 2009 at Avalon Hospice. She left peacefully surrounded by her family. Jehovah's Witness Service 9AM-9:30AM Friday, March 20, 2009 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., Bro. Roy Washington officiating. The family hour will also be held 10AM with funeral service commencing immediately at 11AM, Pastor Theodore Jones officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10AM Friday. Mrs. Matthews will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 2PM-8PM Thursday. Mrs. Annie (Bracey) Matthews was born July 15, 1922 in Eastover, South Carolina, the daughter of Mary (Bracey) Harrison and Simon Reese. She was a member Metropolitan Baptist Tabernacle. Annie loved to cook and quilt. She was always fashion conscience. Mrs. Annie (Bracey) Matthews leaves to cherish her memory: 7 daughters, Inez (Theodore) Jones, Sr., Mary Deloach, Joan (James) Hollis, Deborah Matthews all of Flint, Norlean Henderson, Lillie Wiggins both of Tennessee and Ethel (Barney) Matthews of Pontiac, MI; 5 sons, Charles Henderson, John (Marie) Bracey all of Flint, Carl (Dreama) Henderson of Grand Rapids, MI, Thomas Henderson of Detroit, MI and Sanford (Laura) Henderson of St. Louis, MO; 49 grandchildren; 104 great-grandchildren; 43 great-great grandchildren; 1 great-great-great grandchild; and a host of other relatives and friends. Annie was “Big Mamma” to all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren including special grandchildren she raised Myron Henderson, Sharon Henderson and Tywyonn Matthews; she leaves a host of other relatives and friends including special friend, Maddie Cousins. Mrs. Matthews was preceded in death by her husbands, John Matthews, Charles Henderson and Harry Lindsey; mother, Mary Harrison; grandchildren, Henry Williams, Jana and Ivory Henderson; sister, Lillie Bracey; brother, Henry Lee Bracey; stepdaughter, Earnestine Jackson; and sons-in-law, L.J. Deloach and Bernard Wiggins.
