Mrs. Annie Jean Haynes

HAYNES, Mrs. Annie Jean - age 69, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, August 19, 2014, in the presence of family and friends at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at Blackwell AME Zion Church, 1902 Sonny St. with funeral service commencing at 12 p.m. Pastor Anthony G. Morris, Host Pastor Rev. Kaiser Jones officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy., Mt. Morris, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11 a.m. Tuesday. Mrs. Haynes will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed from 12 p.m.-8 p.m. Monday. Annie was born on June 13, 1945 in Louisville, Mississippi, the fifth child of six children born to Rube Sr. and Susie Short Harrington. She was born fifteen minutes before her twin sister, Geraldine. Her earliest education took place in the public schools of Louisville. She graduated from Camille Street High School and Jackson State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree with a major in English. For thirty-nine years she was an educator in the Flint Public School System where she taught English. Her passion for education and warm spirit impacted the lives of hundreds of young people. Annie’s spiritual journey took her to Blackwell A.M.E. Church where she often shared her musical talent at the piano. Sandwiched somewhere in between her loves of God, family, church, people, and music, is another love, Annie’s cooking. She loved to cook and was a fantastic cook. Annie was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. Mrs. Haynes was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, mother-in-law, sister, aunt, cousin, friend, and retired educator. She lived a life full of joy and laughter. Precious memories will be forever cherished by her devoted husband, Bobby; 3 children, Steven (Jessica), Kimberly Ann, and Monica Joi (Ray) Golson; grandchildren, Dante’, Katlynn, Diandra, Aubrion, Jalen, Imani, and Maya; great-grandchildren, Charisma, Lemore, Allison, Layla, Dante’ Jr., and Amirah; brother, Dr. Rube Harrington; 3 sisters, Erminia (Frankie) Peyton, Lillie Edwards and Geraldine Page, Esq.; her mother-in-law, Mattie Haynes; loving brothers in-law, Willie (Charlene), Bill, Harold (Selena), Dwight (Deborah), and Arnold (Patricia); darling sisters-in-law, Hilda (Kaiser) and Pamela; daughter-in-love, Julia Haynes; a host of nieces, nephews, church family members and dear friends.
