GRISSETT, Mrs. Ann Mae (Shoemo) - Age 82, passed away, Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at Pontiac Hospital, Pontiac, MI. Family hour 10AM Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at Christ Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, 317 E. Hamilton Ave., with funeral service commencing at 11AM, Pastor Derrick Aldridge officiating, Dr. Leroy Shelton, Host Pastor. Interment White Chapel Memorial, 621 West Long Lake Rd., Troy, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10AM Tuesday. Mrs. Grissett will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12Noon-7PM Monday. Annie Mae Shoemo Grissett was born May 25, 1925 in Atmore, Alabama. The daughter of Adell Allen and Dempsey Grissett. She resided in the city of Flint for 43 years and was a dedicated member of the 2nd Chance Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Derrick Aldridge Prior to her membership at 2nd Chance, she was a member of Foss Avenue Baptist Church for 41 years under the leadership of Pastor Avery Aldridge. A retiree from Wallis' Restaurant, Annie is better known to her close friends and family as "Phoebe". She loved to cook, shop and make people laugh. She was a dedicated mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt. She loved to sing and praise the Lord and the Lord loved her with all HIS might. Annie leaves to cherish her memory three daughters, Linda Anthony, Gloria Shoemo (Tyrone Griffin) and Beverly Gildersleeve (Richard Townsend); six sons: Robert Grissett (Zola Mae Grissett), Isiah Shoemo, Jr., Ronald Shoemo, Dempsey Shoemo, Jerome Shoemo (Keli Shoemo), Darryl Shoemo (Renee Shoemo). Fifteen grand children: Robert Grissett, Jr, Michael Lambert, Eric Shoemo (Erica Wright), Aaron Shoemo, Samuel Shoemo, Carl Anthoney Gildersleeve II, Mark Anthoney Gildersleeve, Henry Jones , Ray Shoemo, Sabrina Thomas, Korkesha Fields, Juanita Shoemo (Derrick Smith), Chantal Jones, Chavonne Shoemo and Casandra Jones; Nine great grand children: Stacia Shoemo, Samore Simpkins, LaDaiziona Shoemo ("Juicy"), Si'nyha Jones, Eric Shoemo, Jr, ("Little Eric"), Daquez Shoemo ("Quez"), Marquaveis Shoemo ("Mook"), DaiJohn Shoemo ("Papa") and Mark Anthoney Gildersleeve, Jr. Several nieces and nephews including but not limited to: Willie James & Joan Grissett, Maggie Mae Grissett, Adell Grissett, Freddy Grissett, Mary Lou Grissett, Nellie Mae Grissett; Willie Philon, Darryl Philon, Tracey Shoemo, Brenda Shoemo, Martha Shoemo, and Bettie Shoemo and Peggy Johnson. A host of other relatives, friends and in-laws including but not limited to: Long time teen age friend, Ms. Bobbie McCreary (Philidelphia), Velma Wilson (Flint), Agnes Austin (Flint), Hazel Miller (Flint), Lucille Channel (Flint), Carrie Hall (Flint) and Freddie Beaver (Flint), Isiah Shoemo, Sr. (divorced husband), Jean Shoemo (Sandusky), Chris Shoemo & family (Sandusky) Rosie Mary Shoemo (Pensacola), Curtis Shoemo & family (Santa Barbara), James Shoemo and Kate Shoemo & family (Sandusky). Annie is preceded in death by: Her mother, Adell Grissett, father, Dempsey Grissett, sister, Mary Walter, sister, Arma Lee Harvey, brother, LT Grissett, son, Charles Edwards Shoemo, niece, Ida Pearl Lambert, niece, Brenda Philon, nephew, Joe Grissett, nephew, Robert Lee Thomas (Sonny Boy) and nephew, Curtis Gentry "Butch". The family would like to express special thanks to 2nd Chance Baptist Church, Pastor Derrick and First Lady, Lana Aldridge, the church staff, choir, ushers and members, Dr. Ahmed Arif, M.D. & Staff, White Chapel Memorial Cemetery Staff and Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home & Staff. Annie led a full life of strength and wisdom. She had a tremendous gift of comedic commentary, was a true role model to her children, broke all stereotypes of aging and enjoyed every moment while doing so. We will always love her deeply!
