BROOKS-AVERY, Mrs. Angela Raquel - Age 56, passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at her residence Family hour 10:00 AM Saturday, January 18, 2025, Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, 424 E. Kennelworth Ave., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM, Pastor Jevon Q. Catlett, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00 AM Saturday. Mrs. Brooks- Avery will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawerence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Blvd, and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Friday. Angela Brooks-Avery, a radiant and spirited woman whose warmth, elegance, and deep love for her family touched all who knew her, made her transition on January 8, 2025, at the age of 56. Born on February 13, 1968, in Flint, Michigan, Angela was the only daughter of Charles and Lillian Brooks, sharing an unbreakable bond with her twin brother, Anthony. Angela was a devoted daughter who brought immense pride and joy to her parents. Her love and care for her family were evident in everything she did, and she carried their lessons of kindness, strength, and devotion with her throughout her life. A proud graduate of Flint’s Northern High School, Class of 1986, Angela went on to build a career in the automotive industry. Over more than two decades, she worked with dedication, most recently at GM’s Davison Road Processing Center in Burton, Michigan. Angela had a unique ability to bring people together and made countless friends on the job. Her bright smile, sense of humor, and kind heart left an impression on her coworkers, who cherished her friendship and the joy she brought to their daily lives.In 1986, Angela met the love of her life, Kevin M. Avery, Sr., and the two were married on October 17, 1998. Angela was a loving and supportive wife who found joy in creating a life of love, laughter, and adventure with Kevin. Together, they traveled the world, taking 11 unforgettable cruises and cherishing every moment spent together. The couple had been members together at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Flint, Michigan for over 10 years. Angela’s personality was as bold as her impeccable sense of style. Always dressed to the nines, she had a particular love for leopard print that reflected her confident and lively spirit. She found joy in music, shopping, and, above all, being surrounded by her family. Angela was a fixture at family reunions, always among the first to secure her spot and ensure she didn’t miss a chance to be with the people she loved.Angela’s dedication to her family was unmatched. She had a special bond with her three nieces, Arlesia, Imani, and Angel, whom she adored and treated as if they were her own daughters. Her encouragement and unwavering support were constants in their lives. Angela also cared deeply for her twin brother, Anthony, lovingly supporting him until his passing a decade ago. Angela is survived by her devoted husband, Kevin M. Avery, Sr. of Grand Blanc, Michigan; her stepsons, Kevin M. (Stephanie) Avery, Jr. of Grand Blanc, Michigan, and Brandon White of Burton, Michigan; her grandson, Stevin Avery of Grand Blanc, Michigan; her brothers, Charles E. Brooks, Jr. (Denise Lockette) of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Kermitt Brooks of New York, New York; her beloved nieces, Arlesia Brooks (Terry Kimbro) of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Imani Brooks of Flint, Michigan, and Angel Brooks of Holt, Michigan; her aunts, Gloria (John Henry) Johnson and Forrestine Owens, both of Memphis, Tennessee; her uncles, Darris (Linda) Berry of Fenton, Michigan, and Roland Berry of Burton, Michigan; her mother-in-law, Mary Avery of Flint, Michigan; her sister-in-law, Carol Avery of Flint, Michigan; and a host of cousins, extended family, and friends. Angela was preceded in death by her parents, Charles E. Brooks, Sr., and Lillian P. Brooks; her twin brother, Anthony L. Brooks; her grandparents, Lowell Brooks, Sophie Mae Ivory, Reverend Lewis A. Berry, Sr., and Geneva Sias Berry; her aunts, Cynthia M. Berry, Selbie D. Corcoran and Patricia A. Berry-Jones; her uncle, Lewis A. Berry, Jr.; and her father-in-law, Reverend James C. Avery. Angela’s life was filled with love, laughter, and a commitment to those she held dear. She was a wonderful daughter, a devoted wife, a loving aunt, a dedicated sister, and a treasured friend. Her ability to make connections, whether at work, with family, or in her community, left an enduring impact on everyone she met. Her legacy of kindness, style, and joy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
