FLEMING, Mr. Andrew "Pop" - Age 81, passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at Landings of Genesee Valley. Family hour 10:00 AM Saturday, March 30, 2024, from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery G4413 Flushing Road. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the chapel 10:00 AM Saturday. Mr. Fleming will lie in state in the chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed Friday, March 29, 2024, from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM. The Family will be Present from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM Friday. Mr. Andrew “Pop” Fleming was born June 6, 1942 in Lugoff, South Carolina, the son of Rufus and Victoria (Pempleton) Fleming. Mr. Fleming migrated to Paterson, NJ at an early age where he met and married the love of his life, Peggy Stafford. He was employed by Metal Frame where he manufactured aquariums. In 1978, they moved to Flint, Michigan where he was gainfully employed at Fisher Body I and then Flint Metal Fabricating, both divisions of General Motors Corporation, as a Repair Tech for a total of 28 years until he retired in 2008. Mr. Fleming had many hobbies and interests such as spending time with his family, music and dancing to his favorite artists such as the Spinners, Lou Rawls and Brook Benton. He enjoyed photography, as he loved taking and developing pictures, playing softball, playing cards, working on cars, watching football and baseball. Mr. Fleming also enjoyed shopping, as he had an impeccable fashion sense, and feeding those sweet cravings with lots and lots of sweets, like banana pudding, peach cobbler, carrot cake and sweet potato bread, just to name a few. Mr. Andrew “Pop” Fleming leaves to cherish his memory: wife of 60 years, Peggy Fleming of Flint; 3 daughters, Karen (Fred) Barney of Flushing, MI, Velma Fleming of Flint Twp., MI and Pamela (Cory) Alexander of Cedar Hill, TX; 8 granddaughters, Sofia (Charles) Walker of Grand Blanc, MI, Ron’Neika Barnes, Shelanda Jefferson, both of Flint, Sheena Jefferson of Burton, MI, Ashley Fleming of Flint Twp., MI, Jazzmyne Gumby of Dallas, TX, Gabrielle Gumby of Cedar Hill, TX and Kayla Scott of Houston, TX; 3 grandsons, Cory Fleming-Barney of Flint Twp., MI, Sean Fleming of Flint and Jeremy Barney of Phoenix, AZ; 11 great-grandchildren, Ma’Kyah, Adrian, Camari, Jayden, Maliah, Ka’-Myah, Raven, Savannah, Kennedi, Khylese and Denver; sister-in-law, Flora Fleming; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins including special cousin, Gloria Johnson; a host of other relatives and friends. Mr. Fleming was preceded in death by his daughter, Janie “Tina” Jefferson; grandson, Antione Jefferson; parents, Rufus and Victoria Fleming; brothers, Ezekiel (Emma) Fleming, Nathaniel Fleming, Robert (Audrey Jean) Fleming and Charles Fleming; sisters, Florence (Johnnie) Scates, Pauline (Willie) Brown, Geraldine (Clarence) Hines and Mamie (Joe Sr.) Tucker.
