Mr. Andrew Lee Byrd

BYRD, Mr. Andrew - Age 70, passed away Sunday, February 8, 2015 at his residence. Family hour 10 a.m. Saturday, February 14, 2015 at House of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church, 1851 W. Carpenter Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Pastor Kenneth L. Stewart officiating. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, G-5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10 a.m. Saturday. Mr. Byrd will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12 noon-8 p.m. Friday. Mr. Byrd, known as "White Lip" was born on May 6, 1944 in Indianola, MS, the son of the deceased parents, Mr. & Mrs. Eddie Frank & Cora Lee Byrd Sr. Andrew was a graduate of Flint Central High School where he was a dynamic football player who had great potential. A member of House of Prayer MBC. He was a wild-life lover; of hunting, fishing, and a skillful domino player. He had previously been employed with General Motors and other laborer jobs. He will truly be missed by all who knew him and loved him. Mr. Andrew Lee Byrd (White Lip) leaves to cherish his precious memories: 2 daughters, Kendra (Andrae) Sweeney & Andrea Thomas; 2 sons, Anthony Ransom Sr. & Donte' (Sarah) Thomas; 13 grandchildren, Princess, Norman Jr., Monica, Xavier, De'Marcus, Javontae', Joshua, Prince, Miranda, Velva, Melinda, Mariah, and Donte' Jr.; 15 great-grandchildren; 5 sisters: Eliza Anderson, Doretha Bates, Nellie Thomas, Eddie Mae (Ms. Happy) Byrd -James, all of Flint, LeDora Whitaker of Pine Bluff, AR; 2 brothers: Joe (Rose) Byrd, Archie Byrd, all of Flint MI; a host of nieces and nephews to four generations. Specials Robert Little, Todd, and ex-wife Lenora (Phyllis) Byrd. Mr. Byrd was preceded in death by his daughter, Angela Johnson; grandson, Anthony Ransom Jr.; father & mother; Eddie Frank & Cora Lee Byrd Sr.; 2 sisters: Essie Mae Spiller, Betty Hargrow; 3 brothers, Benjamin Byrd, Eddie Frank Byrd Jr., and Willie Lee Byrd. The family would like to express special thanks to the House of Prayer MBC, Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, Flint Police Department, and paramedics who arrived fist on the scene.
