MARKS, Pastor Albert Frank - age 80, passed away Friday, August 23, 2024 at his residence. Family hour 10:00 AM Saturday, September 7, 2024 at Shiloh Baptist Church, 2120 N. Saginaw St., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Rev. Dr. Daniel E. Moore Jr., officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Mausoleum, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00 AM Saturday, September 7, 2024. Pastor Marks will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM, with family present from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM to receive friends. Pastor Albert Frank Marks Jr. was born June 16, 1944 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Johnnie L. and Annie Marks. Pastor Marks ascended to the Lord on August 23, 2024. He was a resident of Montrose, Michigan, however he was an active Pastor of Immanuel Missionary Baptist Church in Detroit, Michigan. Pastor Marks home church was Antioch Missionary Baptist Church of Flint where his ministry began. He graduated from Flint Northern High School and attended Mott Community College. Pastor Marks also graduated from United Bible College held at Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Granville Smith with a Bachelor Degree. He taught several classes at UBI after graduation. Pastor Marks also attended classes at Midwestern Bible College in Pontiac, Michigan. He retired from Consumers Energy of Flint to fully commit to the ministry. Pastor Marks was an avid fisherman, hunter and boating enthusiast. Pastor Marks was married to Evelyn Franklin and together the Lord blessed them with 3 children, Eric Dewayne, Aaron Keith and Albert Frank II. He began his journey with Christ at an young age of 29. Pastor Marks was baptized at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in 1973 and served on the Deacon Board, sang with the “Voices of Antioch Choir,” and preached his first sermon on October 30, 1977. He took his first pastoral role at New Greater Oregon St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Detroit. In 2002, Pastor Marks was led to organize the Immanuel Missionary Baptist Church where he pastored for a total of 33 years. Pastor Albert Frank Marks Jr. leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Evelyn Marks; sons, Aaron and Albert II; 4 grandchildren, Niesha Marks, Adrianna Marks, Jazmyn Marks and Aaron Stephon; 5 great-grandchildren, Xa’Vari, Jayce, Kaleb, Malini and Tori; 2 sisters, Doris L. Williams and Amena Shabazz; 5 brothers, Roger Marks, Douglas Marks, Ameer Sharif, Kenneth (Patricia) Marks and Troy (Geraldine) Marks; a host of other relatives and friends. Pastor Marks was preceded in death by his grandson, Eric Marks Jr.; parents, Johnnie L. and Annie Marks; sister, Peggy; and brother, Leonard Strozier.
