JAMES, Mr. Wilford DuShawn - Age 42, passed away Saturday, March 19, 2022, at his residence. Family hour10:30AM Tuesday, March 29, 2022 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Minister Raymond Nelson officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy, Mt. Morris, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Funeral Home, 10:30 AM Tuesday. Mr. James will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 12:00 PM-6:00 PM Monday. Wilford DuShawn “Shawn” James, age 42, of Flint, Michigan, passed away on March 19, 2022, after a lengthy illness. Shawn was born on August 11, 1979 to Mildred James and Kirk Williams in Flint, Michigan. He was baptized in Vernon Chapel A.M.E. church. After graduating from Flint Central High School in 1997, he went on to study at Central Michigan University. Shawn has one child, Ariya James, with Yolanda Ingram, of Flint, Michigan. He was an all-conference football player at Flint Central, and enjoyed swimming, karate, and other sports. He was a graduate of Flint Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. and a youth member of the Davidson Country Club Swim Team. He was a lifelong fan of the Michigan State University Spartans and tailgated at almost every home football game. Shawn loved spending time with his daughter, Ariya. His hobbies included spending time with his dogs, on-line gaming, and collecting firearms. Shawn was preceded in death by his grandparents, Geraldine and Wilford James, Rosetta and Earnest Williams; brothers, Kirk Williams Jr. and Dion Williams. Wilford DuShawn “Shawn” James leaves to cherish his memory: parents, Mildred James and Kirk (Jackie) Williams; daughter, Ariya James and her mother, Yolanda Ingram; sister, Charlotte Spencer; aunts, Pam (Bobby) Holz and Patty Oehmke; uncles, Robert E. James, Earnest Williams Jr., Derek Williams, and James Oehmke; and host cousins, other relatives, and friends. The family would like to express special thanks to the Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home the Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, and the DaVita Dialysis Center. Shawn’s family wishes to acknowledge with deep appreciation the many comforting messages, floral tributes, prayers, and other expressions of kindness and concern during this time.
