PATRICK, Mrs. Viola - Age 87, passed away Sunday, July 4, 2021 at McLaren-Flint. Family hour 10:00 AM Friday, July 16, 2021 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Chapel 10:00 AM Friday. Mrs. Patrick will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12:00 PM-6:00 PM Thursday. Mrs. Viola (Jackson) Patrick - age 87, made her earthly debut on May 29, 1934. This sweet, humble angel was the third of five children born to Isiah and Sylvia (Garren) Jackson in Tupelo, Mississippi. Although her voice was soft spoken, the light that she radiated could not be ignored. Viola was loved by many and she reciprocated that love in various ways; one of which was serving her famous fried chicken to friends and family. Not only was her love and compassion extended to family, she also never hesitated to help a stranger in need. Before relocating to Michigan, Viola spent her high school years at Boler High School in Mississippi. She worshiped at Midway Baptist Church, where she served as Sunday School Teacher. Viola loved spending time with family. She also enjoyed playing spades and watching funny movies. Viola was a devoted Laker’s Fan and loved Kareem Abdul-Jabar. Mrs. Viola Patrick leaves to cherish her memory: 2 sons, David (Sandra) Jackson Sr. and Lester (Sabrina) Patrick Jr., all of Flint; 4 daughters, Yvonne (Orrendo) Embry, Brenda Watson, Virginia Patrick and Betty (Andre) Brandon; 24 grandchildren, Tyron, Andrea, Tavilla, also all of Flint, Tarina (Marshall) Green of Atlanta, GA, David Jr., Anthony Jr. (Joy), Keyanna, Quashawnda, Brianna, Antonio, Jovan, Chimere, Sylvia, Kim Jr., La’Tivia (Deon) Johnson, Lakresha (Ro) Campbell, Andre Jr., Elijah, Aaliyah, Ah’Lanah, Jabril, Zakiyy, Ja’Ree and Lester (Mya) Patrick III; 31 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Lucille Thames of Decatur, MS and Sallie Mae Thames of Forest, MS; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins, as well as a host of family and friends; special niece, Maxine Davis; special nephew, Paul Thames. Mrs. Patrick was preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, Lester James Patrick Sr.; granddaughter, Ellanna Patrick; parents, Isiah and Sylvia Jackson; brother, Willie L. Jackson; sister, Geneva Jackson; 4 brothers-in-law; son-in-law, Anthony Watson Sr; mother and father-in-law, Isiah and Vera Patrick; 3 nephews; and special friends, Harvey (Leanna) Watson Sr. The family would also like to express heartfelt thanks to McLaren-Flint ICU nurses, Shannon and Whitney, All American Home and Hospice Care nurse, Erica. Special thanks to devoted daughter, Betty Brandon who was her caregiver for over 16 years.
