LEWIS, Mr. Tom - Age 54, passed away Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at Genesys Health Park. Family hour 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at Grace Emmanuel Baptist Church, 3502 Lapeer Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Pastor Charles Williams officiating, Pastor Marvin A. Jennings, Sr., Host Pastor. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10 a.m. Tuesday. Mr. Lewis will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12Noon-8 p.m. Monday. Mr. Tom Henry Lewis III was born August 30, 1956 in Flint, Michigan to the proud parents of Tom Lewis II and Mary Jackson of Flint, MI. He was the oldest of 6 children. Tom graduated from Northern High School, "Class of 1974." He was a devoted employee of Warwick Hills Country Club as the Locker Room Manager for 29 years never once missing work even through his illness. Tom was an avid golfer who enjoyed playing Table Pool, flying toy airplanes, and racing cars. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. Tom had an abundant loving personality and was a true comedian. He leaves to cherish a faithful loving wife of 27 years, Carmita Claxton-Lewis of Flint; 4 daughters, Cheaunie Lewis, and grandson Kyimoni Lewis of Auburn Hills, MI, Shayla Thomas of Flint, Mariah Lewis and granddaughter, Ahmari Lewis of Flint, Nakia (David) Odom and grandsons, Jacob and Joshua Odom and granddaughter, Raven Odom all of Lansing, MI; 4 sons, Dominique “Grip” Lewis, Cameron “Sporty” Thomas, Adrian “A.D.” Thomas and granddaughter, Harthena Thomas, Ricky Davenport, and grandson, Gabriel Parker; 2 godsons, Marquan and Marquise Coleman; parents, Tom Lewis II and Mary Lewis of Flint; grandfather, Tom Lewis I; 2 sisters, Lisa (Cedric) Ragland, Patricia Andrews; 3 brothers, David Lewis, Melvin (Tonya) Lewis, Oliver (Edith) Lewis; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins including special cousin, Charles “Chuck” (Melanie) Angel of Flint; 1 aunt, Undine Richardson, all of Flint; mother-in-law, Teresa (Min. Eugene) Claxton-Williams of Flint; father-in-law, Min. Oliver (Bobbie) Claxton of Mauldin, SC; 2 sisters-in-laws, Teresa (Wilfred) Claxton-Frelix and Jackie (Calvin) Catron-Leeper, all of Flint; 5 brothers-in-law, Leneil Burton of Detroit, MI, Michael (Tara) Claxton of Flint, Oliver Claxton Jr. of Courtland, MS, Kenneth (Tynika) Claxton of Columbiaville, SC and Charlie Boatner of Flint; special friends, Derrick Betts, Ellis Ross, Ronnie Brooks, Pat Bates, Rita Wright and Billy Anthony. Mr. Lewis was preceded in death by his grandparents, Beluah and Elic McNair and Thelma Denard; nephew Demertic Lewis; mother-in-law, Savilla Burton; sister-in-law, Tanja Catron-Edwards.
