August 27, 1933 - February 15, 2022

MABRY, Mrs. Thomasene (Dickerson), age 88, Passed away Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at her residence in Evansville, Indiana. Family hour 10:30 AM Saturday, February 19, 2022 from the Sanctuary of Memorial Baptist Church, 605 Canal St., Evansville, Indiana, Rev. Dr. Adrian M. Brooks Sr. Pastor with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Dr. Keith C. Dill (Nephew), officiating. Interment Oak Hill Cemetery, 1400 E. Virginia St., Evansville, Indiana 47711. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30 AM Saturday. Mrs. Thomasene (Dickerson) Mabry, was born August 27, 1933 in Marion Alabama. The daughter of Arthur and Mamie Dickerson. Thomasene moved to Flint, Michigan in 1942 where she completed her education and lived until 2009. After graduating from Central High School, she broke the color-barrier and accepted a job in the office of Genesee Bank, where she worked for 14 years. She then worked for AC Spark Plug, a division of General Motors Corporation where she retired in 1996. Thomasene was united in marriage to Clinton Reed. She later married Moses Mabry. Thomasene was a brilliant woman and was rewarded with promotions and expanded responsibilities until she retired. She led an active life and was quick to volunteer and assist others. While going to the school in the morning before she went to work to make sure that all children had something to eat, she learned of a young woman who had no place to live. Within a week she moved the young woman into her home and cared for her for the four years it took for her to complete high school. Thomasene's house was often where other children came to hang out. She was strict but loving. Thomasene was very competitive and enjoyed games and competition. Her favorites include bingo, bowling, poker, and bid-whist. She loved detective stories and music. Thomasene was a member of Memorial Baptist Church. Mrs. Thomasene Mabry leaves to cherish her memory and celebrate her life: 2 daughters, Sharon Reed Walker and Tonya (Carl) Hughes, all of Evansville, Indiana; 5 grandchildren, Antoinette Reeves of Lakewood, Washington, Darell Doan of San Antonio, Texas, Toni Smoots, Tamara Morris, both of Flint, Michigan, and Tiana Halsell of Evansville, Indiana; great-grandchildren, Erica Reeves, Brockton Reeves, Wesley Reeves, Tion Halsell, Tyler Childs, Mar'Kiya Mayfield, Curtiece Doan, Kianah Doan, Darell Doan, II, Amari Kay and Nyla Nicole Morris; great-great[1]grandchildren, Aubrielle Sykes, Nasir Sykes, Aailiayah Childs, LaVelle Childs, Khylin Sanders, Khourtnie Sanders and Kylee Sanders; sister, Mrs. Doris Dill of Ann Arbor, Michigan; brother, Mr. Willie (Lillian) Dickerson of Mt. Morris, Michigan; sister -in-law, Mrs. Shirley Dickerson of Flushing, Michigan; nephews, Dr. Keith C. Dill of Flint Twp., MI, Gregory (Debra) Dill of Ypsilanti, MI, Reginald Dill of Monroe, MI, Arthur (Jennifer) Dickerson, Charles (Meta) Smith, all of Flushing, MI, Willie Dickerson of Flint, John Lansdown of Alabama; nieces, Michelle Dill of Dallas, TX, Cowenda (Kevin) Jefferson of LaGrange, GA, Sherri (Harold) Britton of Flint, Alondra (Tiawan) Garner of LaGrange, GA, Dionne Dickerson of Mt. Morris, MI, Sheila Hemphill of Flint and Angela Lansdown-Robinson of Austin, TX; other relatives and friends. Mrs. Mabry was preceded in death by her son, Anthony Mabry; parents, Mamie L. (Benjamin) Hemphill and Arthur L. Dickerson Sr.; brothers, Arthur L. Dickerson Jr. and Thomas "Sweetie" Dilworth; and sisters, Shirley McLaurin and Beverly Lansdown.. The family wishes to express a special thanks to Jodi Sanders of SWIRCA and the Staff at Silver Birch Assisted Living. A public viewing will be held Saturday, February 19, 2022, from 10 to 11 a.m. with funeral to follow immediately at 11 a.m. at Memorial Baptist Church. Osborne has final care.
