Mrs. Ruby C. White

July 3, 1933 - February 4, 2022

WHITE, Mrs. Ruby C. - Age 88, passed away Friday, February 4, 2022, at her residence. Family Hour 1:30 PM Saturday, February 19, 2022, at Restoration Bethel Ministries, 1031 Darling St., with funeral service commencing at 2:00 PM. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery G-4200 Belford Rd., Holly, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 1:30 PM Saturday. Mrs. White will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM Friday.Mrs. Ruby Lee Curry White, age 88, of Flint, Michigan, peacefully passed away on February 4, 2022, surrounded by loved ones. Ruby was born in Jonesville, Louisiana to Silas and Daisy Curry.  She attended Jonesville Consolidated School for her secondary education. Ruby married John H. White and went on to have two children, Gloria and Marilyn. The family lived in New Orleans and ultimately settled in Flint, Michigan. An exceptional wife, mother, and homemaker, Ruby was a remarkable cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends, especially over the holidays. She was also a talented seamstress spending countless hours making, altering, and tailoring clothing. Ruby deeply loved her family and friends and was always willing to extend a kind word, her wisdom, or a helping hand. she had an infectious personality and a flare for fashion. Ruby loved traveling especially when a little shopping was involved. Her love of hats and her hat collection is one of the ways she expressed her personality and love of fashion. Ruby loved God and was a member of the Christ Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church where she faithfully served on the Usher Board Ministry before her health declined. She was also a past member of the CAP JASMINE #2 Order of the Eastern Stars. Ruby served in various positions and other houses during her tenure. Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, John H. White; parents Silas and Daisy Curry; sisters, Ethel Vaughn, Arneather Henderson, and Eloise Frank; and brothers, Huey Curry, Davis Lee Curry, Henry Curry and Howard Curry.  Mrs. Ruby Lee Curry White leaves to cherish her memory: daughters, Gloria Shavers and husband, Roy F. Shavers Sr. and Marilyn Coleman, all of Flint; five grandchildren, MiaIsha Brown and husband Samuel J. Brown IV, Narisis Coleman, Rajoi Shavers, Roy F. Shavers, Jr. and Gerald Coleman, III; eight great-grandchildren, Samuel V, Janiya, Jamar, Mikayla, Ana, Gerald IV, Gerard, and Makyia; brother, Leroy (Hazel) Curry of Detroit, MI; sister, Bernice (Steve) Bowman of Baton Rouge, LA; and a host of other relatives and friends. The family would like to express special thanks to the Restoration Bethel Ministries, Pastor David Rogers, Sr., First Lady LaVern Rogers, and the Hurley Medical Center 4th Floor nurses.
