CAVETTE, Bishop Rory C. - Age 60, passed away Friday, June 17, 2022 at Ascension-Genesys. Family hour 10:00 AM Saturday, June 25, 2022 at Grace Emmanuel Baptist Church, 3502 Lapeer Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00AM, Rev. Dr. Rabon Turner Host Pastor, Pastor Wallace Hill III, officiating. Interment, Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00 AM Saturday. Bishop Cavette will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM-6:00 PM Friday. Bishop Cavette's funeral services will be streamed live via YouTube, search Grace Emmanuel Baptist Church. Rory Charlton Cavette was born on July 12, 1961 in Flint, Michigan. He is the son of Frank and Charlotte Cavette. Rory Charlton Cavette gave his life to Christ at a young age. He began playing the piano and organ at 12 years old. He played for many churches in Flint and around the nation. He was joined in marriage to Renee Smith, and was blessed with a son, Charlton Leroi Cavette. He was ordained as a Bishop and founded the Music Training Seminar organization, later renamed the Ministry Training Seminar Convention Fellowship. He pastored at Pasadena Church of God. He later established New Greater Faith Ministries. He worked at WFLT as a Gospel Radio DJ for many years. In 2011, Rory Cavette joined into a second union with his wife Bridgette Cavette. Affectionately known as “Bishop,” Rory Cavette completed his education as a high school graduate of Central High School of Flint, Michigan and his Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree in Leadership from Grand Canyon University. In his last few years, he was an elementary Teacher at Doyle Ryder and Greater Heights Academy in Flint, Michigan. He was the Minister of Music at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church for the last eight years. Rory enjoyed going to different churches and fellowshipping with the saints of all denominations. He looked forward to visiting with his son Charlton and daughter in law Heather and grand daughter Coralynn. He loved his annual fishing trip with Superintendent JE Walker. He made regular trips to Benton Harbor to be with his brother in the ministry, Pastor Emery Varrie (deceased). He also enjoyed going to Cracker Barrel with Deacon Darcel Price and his other pastor friends. He was proud of his stepchildren, Omar Sims II, Brennan Sims and Aliyah Sims. He was a caregiver for his deceased mother-in-law, Jereline Fontenot and loved her very much.Rory Cavette was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Charlotte Cavette; grandparents, Charles Williams and Pollie Williams; father-in-law, Roosevelt Fontenot; mother-in-law, Jereline Fontenot; and dear friend, Pastor Emery Varrie. Rory Charlton Cavette leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Bridgette Cavette of Flint; son, Charlton (Heather) Cavette; granddaughter, Coralynn Cavette of Greenfield, Indiana; brother, Pat Cavette, of Grand Blanc, Michigan; step-children, Omar Sims II, Brennan Sims, and Aliyah Sims; brother and sister-in-law, Eddie Bailey and Phyllis Bailey, all of Flint; sister-in-law, Jacquelin Williams of Bowie, Maryland; special aunts, Marguerite Parker of Flint and Ann Cavette of St. Louis, Missouri; special cousins, Micah Parker and Tracey Cavette of Flint, Michigan, Karla Brown of Kentucky, Angela Lansdown Tucker of San Antonio, Texas, Felita Johnson, of Maryland; also cherishing his memory are a host of family members, loved ones, and dear friends.
