WELCH, Mr. Randell - Age 80, passed away Thursday, May 5, 2022 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 1:30 PM Saturday, May 14, 2022 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Fint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 2:00 PM, Rev. Gregory Hare, officiating. Interment Gracelawn Cemetery, 5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 1:30 PM Saturday. Mr. Welch will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12:00 PM-6:00 PM Friday with family present to receive friends. Mr. Randell Welch, age 80, departed this life early in the morning on May 5, 2022. Randell was born June 12, 1941 in DeKalb, Mississippi, he was the son of the late Isreal and Cloatee Welch. He attended Whisenton High School and later married the love of his life, Augustine Hooks. Randell and Augustine were married 58 years and to this union two children were born. Randell was employed by General Motors for 39 years until his retirement in 1999. He enjoyed working at GM and often told stories of how no one came close to his craftsmanship on the job. After retiring, Randell enjoyed fishing, gardening, carpentry, watching sports, traveling home to Mississippi and spending time with his siblings. Mr. Randell Welch leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Augustine Welch; son, Randy Welch, both of Flint; daughter, Teresa Carter of Suwanee, GA; 5 grandchildren, Kheneshia (Byron) Watkins, Helenshia Willingham, all of Flint, Julian Carter of Huntsville, AL, Brandon Carter of Suwanee, GA, and Just-Us Welch, Grosse Point, MI, 8 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Russell Welch of Flint and James (Dorothy) Grady of Ocean Springs, MS; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Randell was preceded in death by his parents, Israel and Cloatee Welch; sisters, Annie Sue Jackson and Anner Lee Currie; and sister-in-law, Joyce Welch. The family would like to express special thanks to the nursing staff at the chemotherapy clinic, Stephanie Lewis, Elaine Britt, Jill Harris, and the Northland Gardens Family.
