Mrs. Pinkie Hamlett

May 29, 1946 - March 8, 2022

HAMLETT, Mrs. Pinkie - Age 75, passed away Tuesday, March 8. 2022 at her residence. Family hour 10:00 AM Saturday, March 19, 2022, at Foss Avenue Baptist Church, 1159 E. Foss Avenue, with memorial service commencing at 11:00 AM, Rev. Dr. Reginald Flynn, officiating. There will be no public viewing. Ms. Pinkie B. Hamlett was born May 29, 1946 in Portville, Mississippi, the daughter of Will Ollis and Irene Brown. Pinkie was a resident of Flint, Michigan since 1973. She graduated from Rust College, Holly Springs, MS with a Bachelor in Science on August 9, 1970. When she came to Flint, she joined Foss Avenue Baptist Church and was a faithful member. Pinkie accepted Christ at an early age in Portville, MS. She was employed at AAA of Michigan when she moved to Michigan and then in 1977 she began working for General Motors Corporation where she retired with 20 years of service. Pinkie loved God, her family and friends. Her hobbies were walking in her neighborhood, singing in the Choir, visiting the nursing homes, listening to Gospel and Blues music, and spending time with family. Ms. Pinkie B. Hamlett leaves to cherish her memory: 2 daughters, Sharonda (Myron) Hamlett-Goza and Kimberly Crawford; honorary daughter, Alexis Ruffin; grandchildren, Gabrielle Goza, Kristian “Boo” Crawford and Myron Goza II, all of Flint; 2 sisters, Tavie Reed of Mississippi and Gwendolyn Ruffin of California; 2 brothers, Willis T. (Joyce) of New Orleans, LA and Ollis Brown of Mississippi; aunt, Dorothy Mae Mays; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends including special friends, Mildred (Charles) Miller of Detroit, MI, Mae (Reginald) Jefferson, Dee Halloway, Dorothy Campbell, all of Flint and Mary Colon of Grand Rapids, MI. Ms. Hamlett was preceded in death by her parents, Will Ollis and Irene Brown; brother, John E. Brown; sister and brother-in-law, Nola and Floyd Jimison. The family would like to express special thanks to Foss Avenue Baptist Church family, Meals-on-Wheels, Huntington Bank Service Desk and Dort Financial Credit Union.
