PENDLETON, Mrs. Phyllis "Carolyn" - Age 71, passed away Sunday, December 26, 2021 at her residence. Family hour 10:30 AM Tuesday, January 4, 2022 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:30 AM Tuesday. Mrs. Pendleton will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Monday.Mrs. Phyllis (Carolyn) Pendleton was born June 29, 1950 in Brownsville, Tennessee, the daughter of Johnnie C. and Odessa Gibbs. Phyllis was baptized into Christ and began her walk at an early age. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Phyllis graduated from Flint Northern High School. After graduating high school, she accepted a position at General Motors Corporation where she retired in 2003. Phyllis loved her music, singing with her siblings, and telling Jokes. She also loved spending time with her family and shopping. Mrs. Phyllis Pendleton leaves to cherish her memory: son, Robert Pendleton Jr.; daughter-in-law, Sherona Miller; step-daughters, Sherrie (Brian) Jones and Sabrina Pendleton-Mitchell; grandsons, Damerion Young and Tyler Washington; granddaughters, Kourtney Simpson and Andrienna Pendleton-Quinn; sisters, Peggy Johnson, Ruth Wilson, Gaynell Byron, Joyce (Stan) Wilkerson, Linda (Michael) Harrison, Denise Henderson and Michelle (Anthony) Martin of Michigan; brothers, Stacey Gibbs of Michigan and Dale Gibbs of Texas; 4 sisters-in-law; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives including special friends, Alonzo Price, Janice Jones and Belinda Brown. Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Robert M. Pendleton; son, Sherell Gibbs; parents, Odessa and Johnny Gibbs; and sister, Yvonne Vesey; 2 grandsons.
