BELT, Mrs. Ona Mae - Age 101, passed away Thursday, October 21, 2021 at her residence. Family hour 1:30 PM Wednesday, October 27, 2021 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd,, with funeral service commencing at 2:00 PM. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home, 1:30 PM Wednesday. Mrs. Belt will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed during the family hour only. Mrs. Ona Mae Belt at the age of 101 passed away peacefully into eternal life on October 21, 2021 at her home. Ona was born in Abbeville, South Carolina on October 23, 1919, the daughter of George and Suzie Gilliam. She lived several years in Youngstown, Ohio, graduating from high school. After moving to Flint, Michigan in 1954, she was employed for 30 years at General Motors Fisher Guide Plant. Ona enjoyed making Indian Beadwork jewelry, sewing, gardening, reading, attending church, going to movies, museums, plays and concerts. She was a kind, caring, loving, treated others fairly and respectfully. Ona gave her all and did her best in all aspects of her life in supporting her family, performing her job, maintaining her property and dressing. She will be greatly missed in all the lives she touched. Mrs. Ona Mae Belt leaves to cherish her memory: son, Victor (Dorothy) Doan; daughter, Sheila Burns, all of Flint; grandchildren, Lee (Michelle) Purches of Grand Rapids, MI, Gregory Burns of Mt. View, HI, Mary Reese of Flint, Belinda Johnson, Kevin (Caroline) Doan, Victor McEwen, all of Tampa, FL, David (Shalise) Doan of Newport News, VA, Twan (Vonn) Doan of Hopkinsville, KY, Joy Doan of Tennessee, Angela (Myron) Henderson of Germany and Michael (Brandi) Doan of Little Rock, AR; great-grandchildren, Maya Purches of Atlanta, GA, Lauryn, Hank, Lily and Joey Purches, Kayonna Jones and Kailynn Brewer, all of Grand Rapids, MI; nieces and nephews, Dr. David (Dr. Bonita) Gilliam of Carol Stream, IL, Lone Star Allie of Chicago, IL, Rosalee McRae Buggs of Toledo, OH, Leatha Bell of Youngstown, OH, Carol Buggs of Dayton, OH, Rodney Bills of Canfield, OH and Steven Brown of Jacksonville, FL; a host of other relatives and friends. Mrs. Belt was preceded in death by her parents, George and Suzie Gilliam; 2 brothers, Joseph and David Gilliam; 5 sisters, Bishop Bertha Stone, Elizabeth Alli, Alberta Browning, Rosetta Buggs and Marietta Lomax.
