GRAHAM, Mr. Norman Sr. - Age 85, passed away Thursday, October 28, 2021 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10:00 AM Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at Grace Emmanuel Baptist Church, 3502 Lapeer Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM Dr. Rabon Turner Host Officiating. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery, G-4200 Belford Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00 AM Wednesday. Mr. Graham will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Tuesday. Mr. Norman J. Graham Sr. “Gump” was born October 31, 1935 in Ethel, Arkansas, the son of Masteur and Josephine (Fitzpatrick) Graham. Norman was a resident of Flint, Michigan for more than 80 years. He accepted Christ at an early age. Norman was a Member and Hospitality Leader at Grace Emmanuel Baptist Church. He graduated from Flint Central High School. Norman was employed at A.C. Spark Plug, a division of General Motors Corporation where he retired after 40 years of exemplary service. He served 2 years in the United States Army and received Good Conduct, Sharp Shooter and Expert Carbine Medals and an Upstanding Uniformed Service Member. He served as Treasurer, By-Laws Chairperson and Parliamentarian for the Greater Flint African American Sports Hall of Fame. Norman played on the 70’s Senior Softball League. He loved the Detroit Lions, Detroit Tigers, Detroit Piston’s and the Detroit Red Wings teams. Mr. Norman J. Graham Sr. leaves to cherish his memory: wife of 62 years, Vivian J. Graham of Flint; 2 sons, Norman J. (Mary) Graham Jr. of Bowie, MD and Derrick A. (Shawn) Graham of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Charree’ N. Graham of Tampa, FL, Tristan J. Graham of Coral Springs, FL, Arande’ M. Christon, Bryan A. Graham and Olyvia N. Graham, both of Atlanta, GA; step-grandchildren, Brindon Bell of Bowie, MD and Derik Bell of Durham, NC; great-granddaughter, Gianna Graham of Coral Springs, FL; step-great-grandchildren, Jayla Brown of Woodbridge, VA, Malaya, Nicholas and Zander Bell, all of Bowie, MD and Maxwell Palmer of Durham, NC; sister, Geraldine (Billie) Chatmon; 5 nieces; 6 nephews; 6 aunts, Ivy, Flayvia, Alonza, Myrtle, Johnella and Iola; 3 uncles, Kelly, Joe Louis and Jasper; 2 sisters-in-law, Sharon and Lynette; a host of other relatives and friends. Mr. Graham was preceded in death by his parents, Masteur and Josephine Graham. Pastor Rabon Turner, to our lifelong friendships, special cousin, Lennie Straham, Lula & Sherwood Pea, Drucilla Hartfield, Lorene Randall an Cohen Washington for helping make our lives wonderful. Brennan Community Center for helping to extend meaningful life after retirement and the Grace Emmanuel Baptist Church for spiritual guidance and opportunities to serve and Hurley Medical Center CICU.
