February 4, 1946 - April 24, 2022

STANLEY-THOMPSON, Mother Normadeen - Age 76, passed away Sunday, April 24, 2022, at her residence. Family hour 11:00 AM Thursday, May 5, 2022, at Cathedral of Faith C.O.G.I.C., 6031 Dupont St., with funeral services commencing at 12:00 PM Bishop Charles Johnson III officiating, Bishop Christopher Martin Host. Interment Gracelawn Cemetery, 5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11:00 AM Thursday. Mother Stanley-Thompson will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Wednesday. Mother Normadeen Stanley-Thompson, Age 76, was born February 4,1946. She went home to be with the Lord April 24, 2022. Mother Stanley-Thompson was born in Schlater, Mississippi to Sam and Bessie Mae Stanley. She was the second eldest of 12 children. In 1959, her family moved to Flint, MI, where she grew up in the St. John Street neighborhood. She was a graduate of Flint Central High School and Mott Community College. She raised 4 daughters and married Michael Thompson Sr. in 1988. Mother worked in the healthcare field as a nursing assistant and retired after 28 years of service with Ascension Genesys Health Park of Grand Blanc, Michigan (formerly Flint Osteopathic Hospital). She also helped assist and rehabilitate many with her skill-set in nursing facilities, home healthcare and private duty. She was a foster parent and an adult foster care provider. She was a member of Smith Village Neighborhood Watch. Mother Stanley-Thompson started her lifelong journey as a Christian at an early age and was faithful until her death. She strived to live a life that was pleasing and acceptable to God. She nurtured her spiritual experience, starting at Deliverance Church Of God In Christ (C.O.G.I.C.), under the leadership of the late Dr. Zack Smith Sr. and Mother Alverma Smith, where she also served as church Secretary for over 30 years and would belt a solo when requested. She was elevated to Deaconess Missionary for C.O.G.I.C. (a woman chosen to assist in the church ministry). Later, she joined fellowship with Greater Friendship Azusa Church Of God In Christ (C.O.G.I.C.) under the leadership of the late Superintendent Birdis Shields Sr. Before her call to glory, she was elevated to Church Mother and served faithfully with Jubilee Life Church Of God In Christ (C.O.G.I.C.), under the leadership of Bishop Charles Johnson lll. She also enjoyed teaching Sunday school and always provided snacks for the youth. Mother was a faithful supporter of Soul Winning Jubilee Street Ministry with Geneva Spears (Director), who also lead Adopt-a-Street Prayer Chain Day, where numerous churches and organizations set up prayer stations that lined city streets, for miles. They provided food, clothing, information, ministry and prayer. She enjoyed watching Word Network, TBN, TCT and listening to WFLT 1420 AM. Mother Normadeen Stanley-Thompson is survived by 4 daughters: Tonia Stanley, Sandra Sprinkle, Khadija Stanley, and Sharaun Stanley; 4 stepchildren: Rochelle Thompson, Michael (Shemeca) Thompson Jr., Evelyn (Larry) McBride and Kelly (Ron) Simon; 8 grandchildren: Silver Stanley, Antwaun Stanley, Erica (Eugene) Blue, Tara Stanley, Kalon (Kelley) Moore, Jessica Sprinkle, Egypt Rutherford and Damarius Thompson; 5 great-grandchildren: Ethan Blue, Evan Blue, Jackson Moore, Emory Moore, and Eva Blue; 2 brothers: Thomas (Tracie) Stanley and Marcus Stanley; 5 sisters: Rosa Hyatt, Genevia Stanley, Bobbie Stanley, Patricia Stanley, and Alice Faye Stanley; 1 sister-in-law Reta Stanley and 1 brother-in-law Reverend Bill (Fay) Fisher, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and church members. She was preceded in death by her husband: Michael Thompson Sr.; parents: Sam and Bessie Mae Stanley; 3 brothers: Edward Stanley, Sr., Jimmy Stanley, Woodrow Stanley; and sister, Lucinda Fisher. God-Children: Niketta (Michael) Fleming; Alverma Denise (Sam) Sanders III; Gwendolyn (James) Richardson; Katrina Smith and Deadrea Smith; Eld. Zack Jr. (Alta) Smith; Emmanuel (Annie) Smith; John (Donett) Smith; Godgrands: Kiela Catlin, Ocean Cooper, Serenity Cooper; and greatgrand dog, Teddy.Blessed friends: Elder Adelaide Evans and family, Jean Shaw and Sister Jerry. On behalf of our family we would like to thank everyone for the love, support, and prayers during this difficult time. Thank you for flowers and cards. We would also like to take a moment to thank her home church and shepherd, Bishop Charles Johnson lll and Jubilee Life Church Of God In Christ, Host Pastor, Bishop Christopher Martin Sr. and Cathedral of Faith Church Of God In Christ, Lawrence E. Lastly, we would like to give a special thank you to Charlene Obelton and Mary Foote who often helped care for both Mother Stanley-Thompson and eldest daughter, Tonia Stanley.
