McFadden was born the 9th child to Irving and Mattie (Maxwell) McFadden in a family of eleven siblings in Hempstead County, Arkansas. She grew up in Hope Arkansas, and attended Blevins Training School graduating Salutatorian for the Class of 1952. A Time to Plant: Nina was a member of a devoted Christian Family and at a very young age, Nina confessed her faith in the Lord by joining the Mt. Zion C.M.E. Church of Hope Arkansas. After moving to Flint, she united with Dozier Memorial C.M.E. Church where she remained an active member, serving consistently as a member and President of the Senior Usher Board, teaching Sunday School, and Member of the Steward Board. Nina received The Usher’s Award of Honor for her strong Christian leadership in serving and inspiring “Gatekeepers” presented by The Usher Board of Dozier Memorial Christian Methodist Episcopal Church. A Time to Love: On July 27, 1952 Nina was united in Holy Matrimony for 62 years to Mr. J.W. Miller. To this union four children were born, Donna, Glen Myron, Sheila, and Cornelius Maurice. Nina also loved and was most proud of her 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. A Time to Build Up: Nina found her time to build up when she was hired to join the staff of Hurley Medical Center, where she was employed as a Health Unit Coordinator for 28 years, retiring in 1993. She was presented the "Hurley Medical Center Auxiliary Award" honoring her for outstanding services as President and Outstanding Volunteer; pledging their support to her as President of the East Central District. When her husband, suffered a stroke and became disabled, Nina chose to care for him at home. Consequently, she could no longer serve as an active volunteer at the hospital. However, she continued to contribute to the group by serving as the Hospitality Chair sending cards to the ill and bereaved members. Nina continued to build up her faith by actively attending Bible Study Fellowship International until she went into hospice care. She built up her Bowling Ball Team as a member of the B’s Bowling Lounge Richfield Bowl 200 Club, the Honey B’s 202 – 502 Club, and AMF Town & Country Lanes Early Birds High Actual Series 539.
