Mr. Nelson Roberts Jr.

ROBERTS, Mr. Nelson - Age 72, passed away Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at McLaren-Flint. Family hour 1:30 PM Friday, March 19, 2021 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W Flint Park Blvd., with Memorial Service commencing at 2:00 PM. Family and friends will assemble at the Funeral Home 1:30 PM Friday. Mr. Roberts will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12:00-6:00 PM Thursday. Mr. Nelson Roberts Jr. was born April 26, 1948 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Nelson Sr. and Willie Bea Roberts. Nelson went home to be with the Lord on March 10, 2021. He accepted Christ at an early age and attended Flint Northern High School. Nelson retired from Grand Blanc Metal Center and was a member of UAW Local #1292. He was a devoted father, grandfather and friend to many. Nelson enjoyed spending time with family & friends talking about old times, playing Chess and taking pictures. He also loved his Jazz. Nelson could talk to anyone, he loved people and had a real gift for gab. Mr. Nelson Roberts Jr. leaves to cherish his memory: 3 daughters, Deborah McGuire of Flint, Brenda Roberts of Burton, MI and Sandra Roberts of Florida; son, Daniel Roberts of Flint; 6 grandchildren, Anton (Juanesha) Roberts, Shanika Roberts, Maleik Roberts, all of Florida, Ja’Nae McGuire of Flint, Laterrian Roberts and Omari Roberts, both of Burton, MI; 6 great-grandchildren; sister, Mavis Collins of Flint; brother, Charles Roberts of Rochester Hills, MI; 6 nephews, Bobby Collins, Tony Collins, Dwan (Valerie) Finney of Arizona, Jermaine Lofton of Texas, Herschel Roberts of South Carolina and Michael Roberts of Georgia; 3 aunts, Helen Brown, Mae Glenn, both Cleveland, OH and Juanita Roberts of Palm Desert, CA; 3 cousins, Gail Sanders, Arthel, both of Cleveland, OH and Freda (Gene) Leverette of Flint; sister-in-law, Cathy Roberts; a host of other relatives and friends including girlfriend, Charlotte Loper; lifetime friends, Terry Lucado, Gene Leverette and Leon Miller. Mr. Roberts was preceded in death by his daughter, Denise Johnson; parents, Nelson Sr. and Willie Bea Roberts; grandmothers, Annie Fuller and Millie Roberts; brother, Herschel Roberts; niece, Patty Collins; uncle, Joseph Roberts; and son-in-law, Hugh McGuire. The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Valvani, McLaren Select staff and Hurley Medical Center CCU staff.
