WELLINGTON, Mrs. Mollie - Age 81, passed away Friday, June 10, 2022 at McLaren-Flint. Family hour 10:00 AM Wednesday, June 22, 2022 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Elder Clarence Baldwin, officiating. Interment Lovedale Memorial Cemetey, G-5175 E. Bristol Rd., Burton, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Chapel 10:00 AM Wednesday. Mrs. Wellington will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Tuesday. Mrs. Mollie Bessie Wellington was born December 11, 1940, in Moscow, Tennessee, the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Will and Ida Bell Briggs. She was employed at the Flint Board of Education for 30 years. Mollie enjoyed Bingo, going to the Casino, sewing and she loved God. Mrs. Mollie Bessie Wellington leaves to cherish her memory: former husband, Charles Wellington of Flint; 2 daughters, Delores Briggs and Rachal Perez; 3 sons, John Johnson, Craig Johnson, and Roosevelt Briggs; 3 step-children, Chris Wellington of Texas, Charles Wellington Jr. of Tennessee and Dwayne Langston of Flint; grandchildren, Dominique Briggs, Mitchell Lewis, Taliah Gray, Abraham Perez, Markeita Howell, all of Flint and Shamika Johnson of Ohio; great-grandchildren, Asim Gray and Matthew Briggs; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends including special friends, Peggy, Sis. Booth and Flossie Robinson. Mrs. Wellington was preceded in death by her son, Melvin Briggs; parents, Will and Ida Bell Briggs; brothers and sisters, Robert, Leroy, James, Ruth, Martha, John, David, Willie, Lemroy, Thurman, Sue, Mattie and Roosevelt. The family would like to express special thanks to McLaren Hospice Nurse Jamie and the Adult Activity Day Center staff.
