WATKINS, Mrs. Millie L. - Age 94, passed away Thursday, April 22, 2021 at Heartland-Briarwood. Mrs. Watkins will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed Friday, April 30, 2021 from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM. Graveside Service 12:00 PM, Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Meadowview Memorial Gardens, 3136 N. State Rd., Davison, MI, Pastor Allen C. Overton Sr., officiating. Mrs. Millie Lee (Coleman) Watkins was born February 8, 1927 in Jonesboro, Arkansas, the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Cottie and Emma J. Coleman. She attended school in Benton, AR. In October of 1942, she married Mosie Lee Watkins. Millie was blessed to birth 4 children, 3 girls, Mozella E., Janice M., Cynthia M. and 1 boy, Mosie Lee Jr. Millie resided in Flint, Michigan on Howard Ave. for over 60 years. When she was able, she attended Christ Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Alfred L.C. Robbs and Dr. Leroy Shelton until their transitions. Millie was a Domestic Engineer. She raised her 4 children plus 2, Celeste C. and Ronzeld T. and engineered them to become successful adults. After the passing of her husband in August of 2000, she stepped right into being the Matriarch of the family. Mille loved her grandchildren and always did her best by them. She was an excellent cook, launderer and great home Beautician, and quite the fashionista in her younger day. Millie always told you the truth even when you didn’t want to hear it! Mommy as many called her was well known for feeding the neighborhood children. She could have patented “Feed the Children.” Her presence will truly be missed. Mrs. Millie Lee Watkins leaves to cherish her memory: 3 daughters and 1 son, Mozella E. Watkins-Bogan of Burton, MI, Janice M. Watkins of Grand Blanc, MI, Celeste C. Marve of Los Angeles, CA and Mosie L. Watkins Jr. of Flint; grandchildren (5 generations), Ronzeld T. Watkins I, Mosie L. Watkins III, Maurice A. Watkins, all of Flint, Tenisa (Darnell I) Frye of Grand Rapids, MI, Terrina T. Watkins of Flushing, MI, James D. Wilson, Tontelaine Watkins, both of Detroit, MI, LaBarrian Davis Jr. of Mt. Morris, MI and Janet L. Anthony of Burton, MI: 31 great-grandchildren; 81/2 great-great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Mrs. Clementine Taylor and Mrs. Doris Coleman-Rouse; 2 sisters-in-love, Mrs. Bertha Coleman and Mrs. Odessa Coleman, all of Detroit, MI; a host of nieces and nephews who loved her as a mother; special friends of over 60 years, Mrs. Eretha Easterwood, Mother Teola Mason and Mrs. Katie M. Vaughn and families; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Sharon Baxter, the Dumas family, James Seale and family, Joyce Bah, Cindy Tabor, Otis, Ocie and Lillie Harris, Matthew “Bud” Anthony, Lynn Dorsey, Lucretia Williams, Runette Burton, Jacklyn Wilson, Marilyn Taylor, Nette Rice, Miss’y Cynthia Smith, Elder & Mrs. Donald R. Stevens, and Mother Eunice Crosby. Mrs. Watkins was preceded in death by her husband, Mosie L. Watkins Sr.; daughter, Cynthia M. Watkins-Davis; grandson, TeRonnie Cook II; parents, Cottie and Emma J. Coleman; 2 sisters; 5 brothers; and good friend, Renee Harris.
