Mrs. Mildred Stewart

July 10, 1936 - January 1, 2022

STEWART, Mrs. Mildred - Age 85, passed away Saturday, January 1, 2022, at McLaren-Flint. Mrs. Mildred Thigpen Stewart was born July 10, 1936, in Lake Como, Mississippi, the daughter of the late Azaline Coleman. In 1954, she united in Holy Matrimony to Mr. J.L. Stewart and to this union four children were born. In the early 60’s the family moved to Flint, Michigan. As her husband worked tirelessly to provide for his family. Mildred was a stay-at-home mom and School Teacher, rearing up their children. She enjoyed sharing memories of life back in Mississippi picking and eating figs, although shrimp was her favorite food of choice. Mildred loved to get her hair done and watching Dr. Oz. She was a God-fearing woman and attended Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church for numerous years. Mrs. Mildred Thigpen Stewart leaves to cherish her loving memories: 2 daughters, Linda Stewart of Mt. Morris, MI and Danita (Thelonious) Stewart-Parker of Livonia, MI; 2 sons, James (Soheila) Stewart of Houston, TX and Rickey (Helen) Stewart of Katy, TX; 7 grandchildren, Derico Cooper, Jessica Stewart, Anthony Cooper, Corey Stewart, Paresa Stewart, Kimberly Stewart and Savanna Stewart; 3 great-grandchildren, Jay’ln Rutherford, Jah’ki Stewart and Nalani Cooper; brother, Austin Campbell; sister-in-law, Gloria Campbell; nephew, Derrick (Maribel) Campbell, all of Austin, TX; a host of other relatives and friends. Mrs. Stewart was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband of 56 years, J.L. Stewart; and mother, Azaline Coleman.
