Mark Avery Williams, of Flint, Michigan, age 58, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, December 8, 2021 after a long battle with Multiple Myeloma. He was born on October 15, 1963, in Flint, Michigan, to the union of Norris and David R. Williams. He was a pillar of strength and guidance in his family and the Flint community. He served as a Flint Police Officer for 23 years, most of which was spent in the Juvenile Division which included the Police Athletic League (PAL), D.A.R.E., and the Flint School Liaison Program. Mark channeled his profound care for youth into a motivational program called “Don’t Miss the M.A.R.K.” which aimed to provide children with lifelong skills. In April of 1993, he married Teresa and of this union were born two children, Aftyn and Ayden Williams. He deeply enjoyed laughing with family and friends, manicuring his yard and home, working out, joy rides in his fancy cars, going on dates with his wife, stories about the “good ol’ days”, reading scripture, public speaking, having lunch with his boys, movies with the family, dinner at red lobster, early mornings, making breakfast, spiritual conversations, gushing over his kids, his dog Koda (even though he might never admit that), riding backwards on his bike, kayaking down the Ausable River, old school R&B, his wife’s cooking, and mentoring. The love of mentoring led to his most recent endeavor: Training Day Drivers Academy which integrated his love for educating and equipping children with necessary life skills.  Mark Avery Williams leaves to cherish in his memory: wife, Teresa Williams; daughter, Aftyn Leyder (Rob); son, Ayden Williams; father, David R. Williams; sisters, Vallrey Crump, Kimberly Williams and Tiffany Williams; brother, Derrek Williams (Regina); many beloved nieces and nephews; a host of other relatives and cherished friends. Mark was preceded in death by his mother, Norris Williams; and brother, David L. Williams. Donations can be made to Ayden's College Fund https://gofund.me/80c047f7
