Mrs. Mamie Lee Rimmer

January 21, 1939 - February 10, 2022

RIMMER, Mrs. Mamie Lee - Age 83, passed away Thursday, February 10, 2022, at her residence. Family hour 9:30 AM Monday, February 21, 2022, from the Chapel of O.H. Pye Funeral Home, 17600 Plymouth Rd., Detroit, MI., with funeral service commencing at 10:00 AM. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery, 19975 Woodward Ave., Detroit, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 9:30 AM Monday. Mrs. Rimmer will be viewed during the family hour only. Mamie Lee McInnis Rimmer was born to the union of Leroy and Elnora McInnis on January 21, 1939 in Natchez, MS. Mamie’s parents were residing in Crosby MS, at the time of her birth and later on moved to Mobile, AL. At the age of 8 her family moved North to Detroit, MI. At a very early age Mamie accepted Jesus and was baptized at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church on Dequindre in Detroit and was a member of the Young People Usher Board until 1953 when her family moved to Royal Oak Township and she became a member of Second New Hope Baptist Church under Pastor Oddis Lewis Sr. She attended Ferndale Public Schools and graduated from Lincoln High School in January 1957. Mamie was united in marriage to Nathan Rimmer on January 21, 1961, she was a mother of 7 children whom she loved so very much and taught them to love and obey the Almighty God. Mamie graduated from Pontiac Licensed Practical School of Nursing in 1967. This began her long career in nursing, beginning at Providence Hospital in Southfield, Metropolitan Hospital in Detroit, Wyoming Health Clinic in Dearborn and retiring from Henry Ford Detroit Northwest Clinic on October 20, 2005. Through out her life she always cared for the sick, visiting them in their homes, hospitals and nursing homes. She loved people. Mamie Lee Rimmer departed this life on February 10, 2022, she leaves to mourn and cherish her memory her children: Jerome (Emiko) Nishikasugai-gun, Aichi, Japan, Delaine (Lavonda) of Flint, MI, Leonard of Detroit, MI; Nathan (Latisha) of Oak Park, MI, and Lasandra of Detroit, MI; grandchildren, Iesha (Adam) Griffin of Clanton, AL, Brittney Rimmer of Grand Blanc, MI, Brianna Rimmer of Flint, MI, Shavon Johnson of Ferndale, MI, Tia Sherwood of Cincinnati, OH, Jalen Hulett of Toronto, Canada, Brandi Rimmer of Flint, MI, Breland Rimmer of Detroit, MI, Micah (Christina) Rimmer Detroit, MI, Nike McInnis of Nishikasugai;-gun, Aichi, Japan and Latia Rimmer, of Oak Park, MI; great-grandchildren, Anijah Johnson who she loved dearly and aided in her up bringing, TristianTerrell, Emerald Anderson and Sage Cold; a host of other relatives, special family and friends including, Nancy Rodgers, Audrey “Faye” Ford, Vivian Tubbs, Gladys Hall and Carolyn. Mamie was preceded in death by her daughter Felecia Rimmer; son, Lamont Rimmer; parents, Leroy and Elnora McInnis; brothers, Clinton and John McInnis. The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. E. Saeed, DaVita Dialysis, Dr. Margni and the Vascular Institute, Dr. E. Samir, Cardiologist, Hurley Medical Center; especially the 7 East Nursing staff.
