Mrs. Mabel Sue Robinson

September 4, 1933 - April 5, 2022

ROBINSON, Mrs. Mabel - Age 88, passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at Hurley Medical Center. Family Hour 11:00 AM Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at Canaan Baptist Church, 910 E. Gillespie, with funeral service commencing at 12:00 PM, Pastor Charles E. Roots, officiating. Entombment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy., Mt. Morris, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Church 11:00 AM Wednesday. Mrs. Robinson will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM-6:00 PM Tuesday. Mrs. Mabel Sue (Williams) Robinson was born September 4, 1933, in Bearden, AR to parents Maceo and Mary Williams. Mabel attended Calhoun County High School in Thornton, AR, where she was on the all A Honor Roll and took All State in basketball in 1949. She later graduated from Flint Northern High School in Flint, MI. Mabel had a long and successful career working at Citizens Bank, where she worked as a teller for 33 years. She retired from Citizens Bank in 1998.Mabel was a faithful member of Canaan Baptist Church for almost 70 years. She served on several ministries including as a Matron, Sunday School Superintendent, Financial Secretary, Youth Director, member of the Young Adult Choir and she taught Sunday School for 45 years. At Canaan, Mabel was under the leadership of five pastors, but specifically thanked Pastor Charles E. Roots for encouraging her to study and credited him for her spiritual growth through his teaching, preaching and guidance.Mabel leaves to cherish her memory: 3 sons, Wendell (Annette) Robinson, Juan Robinson and Kerry Robinson, all of Flint, MI; sister, Naomi Crain of Fordyce, AR; granddaughter, Shalesa Truman; great-granddaughters, Summer, Sky, Brook and Raven, all of Flint, MI; a host of other nephews and nieces and her Canaan Baptist Church family and friends. Mabel was preceded in death by her parents, Maceo and Mary Williams; brothers, Elester Williams and William Williams; sisters, Mary Nell Walker, Earl Lee Cummings and Ira Lee Vasser; and ex-husband, Leon Robinson. The family would like to thank Pastor Charles E. Roots and the entire Canaan Baptist Church family. They would also like to express their sincere appreciation to Hurley Medical Center, Comfort Care Hospice and Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home for the care and concern shown to their loved one. Mabel is now with her Heavenly Father and can finally take her rest.
