Mr. Lester James Patrick Sr., age 79, was born July 21, 1941 in Decatur, Mississippi, the eldest of 12 born to Isaiah Sr. and Vera Mae (Towner) Patrick. Although he arrived as a fraternal twin, he was undoubtedly one-of-a-kind. Lester met the love of his life, Viola (Jackson) Patrick in 1961. They later wedded in 1966. They remained in Holy Matrimony for 55 years. To this divine union, 6 children were lovingly raised as a family of devotion, compassion and unconditional love. Lester accepted the Lord and Savior at a young age. Longing to see more of the world outside of Mississippi where he had labored always by his fathers side. He then set his sights on a brand new journey when they migrated to Flint, Michigan in the late fall of 1968. His main objective was to make a better life and provide his family the opportunities he never had. Shortly after arriving in Michigan, he obtained gainful employment with General Motors Corporation where he served for 34 years before retiring in 2004. some of his favorite pastimes included watching old westerns, The Price Is Right, CNN, however his was favorite watching all sporting events, with MLB at the top of the list. As a devoted Detroit Tigers Fan he often enjoyed watching the game with his twin brother, Jessie especially a double-header and The World Series. Lester was a humble man, compassionate, family oriented, a man of few spoken word, but his presence in a room spoke volumes. He was the one whom always spared no expense to help someone in need. His wife, children, grandchildren and siblings meant the world to him. Aside from professional sports, he also had a love for aircrafts and music. His favorite son was “Lean On Me.” Lester enjoyed spending time with his family especially including his siblings. Although he was the eldest of 12, he and his twin, Jessie Patrick fit like a hand in a glove. They were more than brothers, they were best friends.
