Ms. Lakita Shawniece "Pooh" Cannon

CANNON, Ms. Lakita Shawniece "Pooh" - Age 35, passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at her residence. Family hour 10:00 AM Friday, March 6, 2020 at House of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church, 1851 W. Carpenter Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM Pastor Kenneth Stewart, officiating. Interment Meadowview Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 3136 N. State Rd., Davison, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00 AM Friday. Ms. Cannon will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd from 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM Thursday, with family present to receive friends 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM. Lakita Shawniece Cannon “Pooh” was born June 20, 1984 in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of the late Leyte Barber Cooper and Mr. Pinkey Cannon. Miss Cannon attended the Flint School System, Regency Hair School and Strive, where she received a Certificate in Nursing Assistant. She was a previous employee at Super 8 Motel. Lakita was a member of House of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church. She worshipped God’s goodness and attended until her health began to fail. Her life revolved around her “Three Kings” and Kita would go above and beyond to keep them happy and support them in any activity and their athletic events. Lakita’s hobbies included her favorite, doing hair, along with decorating for special occasions, taking care of others, hanging with family and friends. She also enjoyed keeping a clean house and most of all, making the best woodles in the world. And let us not forget she loved taking pictures “selfies” with family and friends. And everyone please remember her motto, “clean house no dishes in the sink!!!” Lakita leaves to cherish her memory: 3 sons, Da’kari Cannon, Dereon Jones and Da’Vaughn Jones; father, Pinkey Cannon; grandmother, Lillian Perry; 6 sisters, Pinkie (Reo) Cannon, Gwendolyn Watkins, Stacey Lakes, all of Flint, Quinna Williams of Los Angeles, CA, Donisha (Andre) Davis of Phoenix, AZ and Angelique Rankin of Dallas, TX; 4 brothers, Casaris (April) Watkins, Richard (Denise) Cooper, Quindoin Watkins and Sedric (Shaneek) Cooper; a host of nieces and nephews including special nephews, Sedric Jr., Reo Jr. and Aveon; 8 aunts, Iris Hare, Jean Cooper, Julie Sprat, Leida Bell, Efay Triplett, Patricia Wilson, Ericka Perry and Shakira (Paul) Perry-Lockridge; 7 uncles, Thuster (Narcissus) Cannon, Johnny Frank (Georgia) Bell, Eddie Bell, Lewis “LT” (Betty) Barber, Terry (Betty) Barber, Benard Harper and Archie Perry Jr.; a host of cousins including favorite cousins, Brittany, Alisha and Marquise; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Lakeisha Robinsons and family, Takelia (Scooter) Derricks, Danesha (Crystal) LeSears and god-family, Carradine family; special uncle, Duke; aunt, Shemick. Lakita was preceded in death by her MOM, Leyte Barber Cooper; grandparents, Edward (Wilkey) Cannon; grandfather, Lewis “LT” Barber Sr.; aunt, Robbie Baker; uncles, John Cannon and Cullen Cannon; cousins, Terry Barber Jr. and Antonio Barber.
