KENDALL, Mr. Kurt - Age 59, passed away Monday, August 2, 2021, at his residence. Family hour 10:00 AM Tuesday, August 10, 2021 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM, Missionary Margaret Jones, Eulogist. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Funeral Home 10:00 AM Tuesday. Mr. Kendall will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 12:00 PM-6:00 PM Monday. Kurt Lamar Kendall was born March 3, 1962 at Hurley Hospital in Flint, Michigan, the son of Joe L. and Norma J. (Wright) Kendall. Kurt was early diagnosed as Downs Syndrome. Despite his disability, he lived a full and happy life. Kurt was dearly loved by everyone who knew him. Under his mother’s expert and tender guidance, he developed an affable, lovable and kind personality of one who never had an enemy. Kurt attended and graduated from the Elmer Knopf Learning Center. He then joined the Vocational Independence Program (VIP) which he attended until he decided to retire. Kurt was his neighborhood’s Flint Journal Newspaper Carrier for many years. He was once named “Carrier of the week.” All of his customers were very fond of him. Kurt liked attending Living Word Ministry; loved it’s members and was especially fond of “The Reverend” founding Pastor Robert Rosborough. He loved to watch television. His favorites were, wrestling and sitcom reruns, “Sanford and Son”, “Good Times”, “I Love Lucy”, “The Jefferson’s etc., and a real must-see, Steve Harvey’s “Family Feud”. Kurt Lamar Kendall leaves to cherish his memory: father, Joe L. Kendall; brother, Kyle L. Kendall, both of Flint; nephews, Roger Laster of Dallas, TX, Herman Jones Jr. of Flint and Thurman Jones of Michigan; 5 grand-nephews; 3 grand-nieces; uncles, Arthur Milton, Eddie (Sadie) Wright, all of Mt. Morris, MI and Cleve (Gisela) Kendall of Fort Walton Beach, FL; aunts, Ruth (Raymond) Blackwell of Pueblo, CO, Margaret Jones and Lucy (Lester) Smith of Flint; very special friends, Ruth Baker, Jimmy and Phillis Clark, all of Flint, Kathleen Etherly of Flushing, MI and Jeanetta Nkulu of Flint; close and special cousins, Jeffery Dent, Pamela Wright, Brock Poplar and Audrey Smith; a host of other cousins and friends. Kurt is now with adored family who went before: mother, Norma J. (Wright) Kendall; brother, Herman Jones Sr.; grandparents, Cleve and Lucille Kendall, Jerrold and Aline Wright; great-grandmother, Napoleon Busby; aunts, Patty Poplar and Carolyn Dent; uncles, James Milton, Bennie Kendall, Dr. Douglas Wright, Sylvester Poplar and William Poplar.
