CASEY, Rev. Kenneth Larry - Age 78, passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at his residence. Family hour 10:30 AM Wednesday, March 16, 2022 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Rev. Daniel Moore, officiating. interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the chapel 10:30 AM Wednesday. Rev. Casey will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Tuesday. Rev. Kenneth L. Casey was born February 21, 1944 in Hamilton, Alabama, the son of Jethro and Mattie Casey. Kenneth accepted Christ at an early age. After high school, he completed some college and started working at Baptist Medical Center in Birmingham, AL. In 1974, he married Brenda Williams and to his union, 3 girls were born and 2 were “gifted.” He moved to Michigan in 1978 to work for A.C. Delco, a division of General Motors Corporation. In 1982, he accepted the call into the ministry and served as Associate Minister at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. It was there that he served as a Sunday School and Bible Study Teacher, he oversaw the Tape and CD Ministry and he was the Grounds Keeper for 9 1/2 years until his sickness took over. Kenneth also taught Bible Study at the Genesee County Jail for many years. He enjoyed reading his bible, watching the Word Network and spending time with his family. Rev. Kenneth L. Casey leaves to cherish his memory: 5 daughters, Tanisha (Jamol) Turner, Tiffany Casey, Talia Banks, all of Flint, Traci (Cedric) Washington of Grand Blanc, MI and Staff Sargent T’Andra Burns of Beaufort, SC; 2 god-daughters, Chandra King of Powder Springs, GA and Kori Stokes of Auburn, GA; 12 grandchildren, LaTonya King of Flint, Taylor Edwards of Mt. Clemons, MI, Jamilah Turner of Denton, TX, Isaiah Casey, Iyanna Casey, Ashlynn Matthews, Austin Matthews, Kenneth Washington, all of Flint, Kamari, Kendyl, Kaiden and Kai Stokes, all of Auburn, GA; brother, Johnny Mack Blanchard of Hamilton, AL; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Mr. Kenny Newberry, Jeanette and Collette Brown, Jacqueline Banks and Angela (Artunado) Scott. Rev. Casey was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Casey; parents, Jethro and Mattie Casey; 4 sisters, Marie Casey, JoAnn Broyles, Eulalia Harris and Jeanette Banks; and brother, McClellan Casey. The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Charles Ellsworth, Genesys Hurley Cancer Institute, Kindred-At-Home, Antioch Missionary Baptist Church and Gracious Grace Missionary Baptist Church.
