TRUSTMAN, Mrs. Karimah S. (Brown) - Age 43, passed away Saturday, February 12, 2022, in Detroit, MI. Family hour 10:00 AM Tuesday, March 1, 2022, from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home,906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:30 AM Tuesday. Mrs. Trustman will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 8:00 AM Tuesday until time of service. Karimah Brown Trustman passed away unexpectedly, February 12, 2022, at her home in Detroit, Michigan. Karimah was born September 2, 1978, in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Mr. Charles Brown and Mrs. Cassandra Lenore Brown. She was raised in Flint, Michigan and was proud to claim the city as her hometown. Karimah excelled in school, receiving awards including a Certificate of Academic Excellence from the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. (Flint Alumnae Chapter) and the University of Michigan-Flint, which was presented as a Salute to African-American Middle School Eighth Grade Honor Students (May 11, 1992). Karimah graduated from Flint Central High School (Indians), where she was a member of the cheerleading squad, as well as involved with the drama club and theatrical presentations. Continuing her education, Karimah graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor degree, and went on to earn a Master Degree. Karimah then began her teaching career, and taught elementary school children throughout Michigan at both charter and public schools. She was very actively involved with her students, and volunteered for soccer coaching/assisting to further nurture her interaction with children. Karimah married Scott J. Trustman in October 2020. Together, they began building a beautiful life, often dividing their time between their home in Detroit and their family cottage in Port Austin, Michigan. Karimah absolutely loved spending time at the cottage, especially after they adopted their dog, Run, who they loved to cuddle and watch TV with. Karimah also loved to watch cooking shows with Scott, and the couple enjoyed fine dining in many of the city’s restaurants. Friends and family were an absolute cornerstone of her life; Karimah and her husband loved to visit with Karimah’s lifelong friends, and frequently spent quality time with her beloved mother before losing her in October 2021. Karimah is preceded in death by her mother and father, and leaves behind her devoted husband, Scott (and precious dog, Run); her loving Godmother, Helen Davis; as well as countless grieving friends and family members. Gone, but never to be forgotten. Her smile, warmth, and compassionate nature endeared her to all who were fortunate enough to have Karimah in their lives.
