(MILLER) MURDOCK-WILLIAMS, Mrs. Joyce Evelyn - Age 64, passed away Thursday, June 10, 2021 at her residence. Family hour 10:00 AM Friday, June 18, 2021 at Greater Galilee Baptist Church, 4418 Industrial Ave, with funeral service commencing at 11AM Pastor Andre Williams officiating. Internment Sunset Hills Association, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at church at 10:00 AM Friday. Mrs. Murdock-Williams will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM-6:00 PM Thursday. Mrs. Joyce Evelyn (Miller) Murdock-Williams our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister age 64 transitioned peacefully June 10, 2021 at her residence. She was surrounded by the love of her family when she went to be with our Lord in heaven. Joyce Evelyn was born in Flint, Michigan on August 10, 1956 to her loving parents Odis and Mary Charleen (Cook) Miller. Joyce loved her family. She was devoted to her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her love and devotion to family was unlimited and unwavering. Joyce was a committed follower of Jesus Christ, baptized at an early age at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church Rev. Allen. She later joined New Covenant Baptist Church Pastor Eddie Collins where she served faithfully as a choir member, youth director and cook. Joyce was a current member of Greater Galilee Baptist Church, Pastor Andre Williams where she faithfully and joyfully served in many capacities in their church, such as President of the Mothers Board, singing in the choir and cooking delicious food. She was a faithful servant for the Lord. Joyce retired from General Motors in 1986 and began the wonderful journey of retirement. One thing she didn’t do is let any grass grow under her feet. She was always on the move until the last days of her precious life. Our beautiful and sophisticated Joyce Evelyn will be remembered for her elegant style, her heart of gold, her love for people, her love for flowers and a beautifully manicured lawn, her generosity, her love for shopping and fun casino trips. She also loved planning beautiful, delicious and fun family celebrations and home decorating. She was also President of the Mother’s Board at Greater Galilee Baptist Church. “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.” Matthew 5:8. Joyce you fought the good fight, you finished the race and you kept the faith. Well done! Wear your crown baby! We will see you in heaven. Joyce leaves in God’s care her devoted husband, Sherman, her loving children Michael (Vivienne), Tara and Tiffany. She also leaves in God’s care her precious grandchildren: Phillip, Whisper, Jennifer, Michael, Mykale, Najee, Ariee, Micah, Rhianna, Lauren, Jyrah and Jakai; her great-grandchildren; Jaida, Jer’see and Ne’ahni; and her godchildren Rafeal, Antonio, Lakisha, Reginald and Briana. Joyce also leaves her sisters Ann, Valerie (Murdock), Debra, Marilynn (James), Carla (Samuel), Carrie, Peggy, Emily and her brothers Donald Ray and Otis (Barbara). She also leaves her loving aunts Florene Burks, Camille Cook, Estella Gould, Gladys Vick-Powell and Francetta French; special cousins Michelle, Melinda (Byron), Reneda (James), Florine (Richard) and Earlene (Lonnie). Aunt Joyce holds a special place in the hearts of her nieces and nephews: Dennis, Cedric, Angela, Brian, Brad, David, Mark, Marla, Odis, Austin, Aleighsha, Jason, Christopher, Johnathan, Deborah, Leahanna, Rance, Sharena, Argie, Jordae, Ramonica, Ernest, Lil Raymond, DeQuan and Ricardo. She was always interested in their well-being and in every aspect of their lives. She celebrated their accomplishments as if they were her own. She also leaves behind many grand nieces and nephews who also mourn her passing. Joyce also leaves in God’s care her In-laws whom she loved dearly Raymond, Sheila and Patty. The family would like to recognize her loving friends Donna Poplar, Mother Scott, Sharon Pascal, Caroline Miller, Veronica Latham and Reginald and Briana Smiley. Her love and care were extended to her animal companions: Max, her Bichon Frise and Lily her Sun Parakeet. Joyce’s love was immense for her children, grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren. Her love for them was unconditional and immeasurable. The beautiful light in her eyes was even brighter when they were in her presence. They adored her in return. She will forever be their guardian angel. Our precious, strong, vivacious and joyful Joyce Evelyn will always be remembered for her devotion to her family, for her love of God, and for her will and determination. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Jacqueline Gillon.
