BARNETT, Mrs. Joyce Marie (Gibson) - Age 68, passed away Friday, March 16, 2018 at Genesys Health Park-Grand Blanc, MI. Family hour 11:30 AM Saturday, March 24, 2018 at Victorious Word Church, G-3560 Beecher Rd., with funeral service commencing at 12:00 PM Pastor Rodney Murphy officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11:30 AM Saturday. Mrs. Barnett will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM Friday with the family present from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM to receive friends. Mrs. Joyce M. (Gibson) Barnett was born July 19, 1949 in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Junious and Tabitha Gibson. Joyce accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior at an early age and walked by faith. She was a resident of Flint and graduated from Flint Northwestern High School, “Class of 1967.” She retired from General Motors as a Secretary. She was a dedicated, loving, supportive wife to her husband Ronald for nearly 45 years. Joyce was a devoted mother who showed unconditional love to her family. She was a beautiful woman on the inside and outside. Joyce had a big heart and tried to make everyone happy. If she could help you; she would. Joyce loved to laugh and talk with her closest friends and family. Weekend getaways with her husband were priceless. She treasured spending time with her granddaughter, Kyndell, who was the light of her life. Mrs. Joyce Barnett’s precious life will forever be cherished in the lives of her loving husband, Ronald Wayne Barnett; 2 children, Mia Barnett, both of Flint and Anthony (LaRonna) Barnett of Grand Blanc, MI; granddaughter, Kyndell Barnett-Eason of Flint; 2 sisters, Jane (Henry) Clark of Mt. Morris, MI and Lydia Coleman of Flint; 3 brothers, Countee Gibson of Mt. Morris, MI, Milton (Pamela) Gibson of Grand Blanc, MI and Walter (Juanita) Gibson of Mt. Morris, MI; 4 brothers-in-law, Oscar (Gloria) Barnett, Robert (Connie) Barnett, Mark (Teresa) Barnett all of Flint and Reggie (Bernadell) Barnett of Bloomfield Hills, MI; 3 sisters-in-law, Cora (Sam) Dixon of Winter Springs, FL, Shirley Briscoe and Vicky Tureaud, both of Flint; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends including special friends, Joyce Conner, Pat Hennie, Mary Parks-Deason, Betty Perry and James Rawls. Mrs. Joyce Barnett was preceded in death by her parents, Junious and Tabitha Gibson; brother, Ronald Gibson; and niece, Jennifer Gibson. The family would like to express special thanks to kidney donor, brother, Milton Gibson Sr., Genesys Health Park (MICU team; especially Nurses Tracey and Pam), Pastor Rodney and First Lady Alexis Murphy, the Victorious Word Church family, our family and friends.
