MATEEN, Mr. Jonathon - Age 53, passed away Monday, January 31, 2022 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 1:30 PM Thursday, February 10, 2022 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 2:00 PM. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home, 1:30 PM Thursday. Mr. Mateen will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12:00 PM-6:00 PM Wednesday, with family present from 4:00 PM-6:00 PM to receive friends.Mr. Jonathon Mateen was born February 28, 1968, in Flint, Michigan, the son of Ralph and Farris Mateen. Jonathon graduated from Flint Academy in 1986, where he was a drum major and basketball player. He graduated with a nursing degree from the Henry Ford College School of Nursing in 1996. Jonathon became an amazing nurse, providing care to patients at Heartland Manor, Hurley Medical Center, and Davita Dialysis for 26 years. He was passionate, caring, and highly knowledgeable about the field of nursing. Jonathon was an outstanding husband, father, and grandfather, his family meant the world to him. He was a highly spiritual man of God and regularly shared scriptures to help himself and others through hard times. Jonathon loved to fish, spend time with his family, and cook. Mr. Jonathon Mateen leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Tamra M. Mateen; daughter, Janay N. Mateen; 2 sons, Jonathon Mateen II and Justin N. Mateen, all of Flint, MI; 4 grandchildren, Jackson C. Mateen, Joseph C. Villarreal, Jaysun S. Villarreal, and Mali Mateen, all of Flint, MI; sister, Treva (Alvin) Lowery of Holly Grove, AR; 2 brothers, Ralph (Leontine) Thompson of San Diego, CA and Calvin (Michelle) Mateen of Flint, MI; 6 nieces, Arlesia (Keon) Lowery-Tanner of Flint, MI, Malia and Leslie Thompson of San Diego, CA, Kianna Mateen, Trinidy Tomlin-Mateen, and Mila Brown, all of Flint, MI; 4 nephews, Calvin Mateen Jr, Liam, Jordan, and Justin Brown, all of Flint, MI; aunt, Little Mae Owens of San Diego, CA; uncle, Bob Owens of Little Rock, AR; Mother and Father-in-law Milas and Veronica R. Caudle of Flint, MI; Sister-in-law Melissa (Luther) Brown of Flint, MI; Brother-in-law Milas N. Caudle Jr. of Flint, MI; Aunt, Aneta (Danny) Wilkerson; a host of other relatives and friends including special cousins, Danielle (Jessie) Cloman, James and Barbara Moore and Judy Relerford; and special friends Marvin Lyons, Brian Allen, and Gordon Strozier, all of Flint, MI. Mr. Mateen was preceded in death by parents Ralph and Faris Mateen; and son, Jonte M. Mateen “Taye”.
