JONES, Mr. Jimmie L. - Age 88, passed away Sunday, April 10, 2022, at McLaren-Flint. Family hour 11:00 AM Monday, April 18, 2022, at New Creation Church of God, 3472 Lennon Rd., with funeral service commencing at 12:00 PM. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11:00 AM Monday. Mr. Jones will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM Saturday with family present from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM to receive friends. Jimmie Lee Jones was born December 9, 1933 in Lake, Mississippi, the son of Mr. And Mrs. Jimmie (Bennie) Jones. He was raised with Christian values in his home. He graduat ed from Sherman Hill High School in Forest, Mississippi and decided to join the military. Jimmie served in the the US Army from 1953-1955 during the Korean War. Upon honor able discharge, he moved to Flint, Michigan and was a resident of Mt. Morris since 1968. He accepted a job with General Motors, Chevrolet Truck and Bus 1955 until he retired in 1992. He was a member of New Creation Church of God where he served as a greeter and faith fully attended Sunday School and Men’s group. One of his great joys early in his Christian journey was serving as an usher and mentoring the youth on the junior usher board. Jimmie enjoyed using his driving skills in service to others as a volunteer driver with Red Cross, Foster Grand-Parents and Motherly Intercession. He was an active member of GC CARD of Genesee County. Family meant everything to Jimmie and he was affectionately known to his family as “Bae-Bae.” He was married to Rev. Villia M. Jones for 44 years. He was known for his quiet and supportive ways of encouraging others through listening and laughter. His favorite pastime was watching a “ball game” especially the Atlanta Braves or Golden State Warriors and talking about fishing. He developed his love for baseball as a young man watching his father play and later playing himself. He leaves to cherish his memory: 5 Daughters - Carmella Jones of Budapest, Hungary, Marsha Thomas of Atlanta, GA., Stephanie (Clifford) Whiteside of Lansing, MI, Gala Sanford of Buffalo, NY, Villia “Chrissy” (Edmund) Davidson of Columbus, OH. 5 Granddaughters - Dr. Deanna Cochran of Batesville, AR., Quanesa Sanford of Mt. Morris, MI., Kendra Cochran of Atlanta, GA., Wayneisha (Carl) Feaster of Buffalo, NY., Villia David son of Columbus, OH. 1 Grandson- Wayne Jimmie Franklin Sanford of Buffalo, NY. and 2 great grand daughters - Karrington Ferguson of Mt. Morris, MI. and Journei Finley of Buffalo, NY. 4 Sisters - Mary Shelby of Flint, MI., Dorothy Peterson of Lake, MS., Shirley (Thomas) Alsobrook of Charlotte, NC., Glennie Roland of Columbus, GA., and 2 Brothers - Charles Albert (Ruby) Jones and Willie Earl (Loretta) Jones all of Jackson, MS. In-laws - Kathyn Weathersby-Jones, Roy Jones of Buffalo, NY, Geraldine Pleasant of Flint, MI. A host of nieces and nephews including a special niece, Terri Goodlow, special nephew Xavier Peterson. God-Children Chalente Edwards and Tigris T. Clemons. A host of friends and relatives including special friends, George and Linda Fowler, Shirley Goodlow, Teola Scott all of Flint Michigan along with his New Creation Sunday School class and his exercise class at Kraphol Senior Center. He is preceded in death by wife, Rev. Villia M. Jones, parents, Mr. And Mrs. Jimmie (Bennie) Jones, brothers – Carl Jones, John Calvin Jones, James Howard Jones, and Bobby Glenn Jones, Sr., Father-in-law Franklin W, Pleasant, Mother-in-law Ruth Pleasant, Brother in laws, James Sims, Franklin Pleasant Jr., Wesley Shelby.
