WASHINTON, Mr. Jerry - Age 78, passed away Friday, April 23, 2021 at Ascension Genesys Hospital in Grand Blanc, MI. Family hour 10:30 AM Wednesday, May 5, 2021 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with service commencing at 11:00 AM. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Flint, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at at the funeral home 10:30 AM Wednesday. Mr. Washington will lie in state in the chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM Tuesday. Deacon Jerry Philip Washington was born Tuesday, March 23, 1943 in Idlewild, Michigan, to the proud parents, Alexander and Artelia B. Washington. Jerry was the 7th of 11 children. he received the Lord into his life at a very early age. Despite the lack of his education in reading and writing, Jerry received an education from the Lord. He went on to be a trail blazer and he never let anything stop him or stand in his way. Jerry always kept Psalms 91 close to his heart, he really stood on it. Being a Jack-of-all-Trades, such as a Construction Worker, Greeter at the Capital Theatre, he worked for General Motors for a short time. Jerry did some volunteer work for the Red Cross, home care, he cared for his parents until their passing, he went on to work for Meijer and then K.F.C. until he retired. Jerry’s hobbies were, roller skating, driving and cooking, he was a chef in his own right. Jerry was a lover of music, his favorite was Jazz. During his spiritual walk with the Lord, he was a member of New Jerusalem Church Of God In Christ under the leadership of the late, Bishop Henry M. Badon for 45 plus years. He served as the Bishop’s Armor Bearer and also on the Deacon Board. He later fellowshipped with Fairhaven Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Jerry also served on the Deacon Board at Grace of God Ministries until his passing. Deacon Jerry Philip Washington leaves to cherish his memory: 3 daughters and 4 sons, Mrs. Terry (Tony) McWright, Ms. Phyllis LaShaun Reed, Ms. Trina Samone Savage, Mr. Mr. Maurice “Pop” (Trish) Walton, Samuel (Annette) Delano Washington-Hughes, Mr. Corie Jamal Hoey and Mr. Philip Maurice “Brittany” Washington; 4 step-children, Mr. Demetrius Hughes, Ms. Sonja Hughes, Ms. Sharon Bell and Ms. Shanel Bell; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, William G. (Phyllis) Washington and Nathaniel (Catherine) Washington Sr.; 2 cousins, Muriel Chaney and Meredth Thomas; sister-in-law, Alberta Washington; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Deacon Washington was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Washington; son, Baby Philip James Hughes; parents, Alexander and Artelia B. Washington; sisters, Phyllis Washington, Beverly Washington Harper, Irene Gayle and Priscilla Washington-Davis; brothers, Daniel Washington, Arthur J. Washington, Cornelius Washington and Joseph Washington. The family would like to express special thanks to Pastor-Dr. Mary Hatcher and Bishop L.
