Mrs. Jannie Bell Strong Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

STRONG, Mrs. Jannie Bell - Age 81, passed away Saturday, July 9, 2022 at her residence. Family hour 10:00 AM Tuesday, July 19, 2022 with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., Eld. Virgil Stocker, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Chapel 10:00 AM Tuesday. Mrs. Strong will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Monday. Mrs. Jannie Bell Strong was born September 16, 1940 in Plain Dealing, Louisiana, the daughter of James Dell Sr. and Dora Pennywell Green. Jannie was raised in Flint, Michigan by her adoptive parents, James Dell Jr. and Victoria Green. She attended Flint Community Schools and was a member of New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church. She was employed at General Motors Corporation and several other jobs while raising her seven children. Jannie loved spending time with her family and friends. She was known to be a kind, caring and passionate person who never hesitated to speak what was on her mind. Jannie enjoyed reading, fishing, bowling, going to the casino and bingo halls. She had a special passion for cooking large meals that many raved about. Mrs. Jannie Bell Strong leaves to cherish her memory: daughters, Ernestine (Richard) Nathaniel, JoAnn (Charles) Thomas, Dora (Antwoine) Mayfield, Antionette (Greg) Strong, Lisa Johnson; god-daughter, Marsha Scullark; sons, Kenneth (Kenyata) McGuire and Maynard Strong; brothers, Columbus Green, Sherman (Stella) Green, James (Victoria) Green Jr.; sisters, Beatrice Banks and Bessie Richardson;; 28 grandchildren; 64 great-grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, including Lillie McGuire and Arthur Scott. Mrs. Strong was preceded in death by her husband, Quillie B. Strong; parents, James Dell Sr. and Dora Pennywell Green; brothers, Roy Green, John Jones; sisters, Elizabeth Williams, Ozzie Hodge; son, Larry Strong and the fathers of her children; Preacher Shannon and Lester McGuire.
