Mr. Herman Jerrod Cohill

COHILL, Mr. Herman Jerrod - Age 35, passed away Wednesday, October 4, 2023 in Raleigh, NC. Family hour 10:00 AM Saturday, October 21, 2023 at New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church, 1035 E. Carpenter Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Pastor Alfred Harris Jr., officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11:00 AM Saturday. Mr. Cohill will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Friday. Mr. Herman Jerrod Cohill was born February 2, 1988 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Herman Sr. and Gloria Cohill. Jerrod accepted Christ at a very early age and was baptized by the late Rev. Cornelius Berry at Christ the Liberator Presbyterian Church. He attended Flint Beecher Community School. Jerrod participated in Bishop and Starbase. He maintained good grades all through high school where he graduated in 2006. As Jerrod grew older he found a new church home and became a member New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Bishop Odis A Floyd where he gracefully served the Lord. In the time spent with Bishop Floyd, he gained the nickname “bud”. Jerrod was going to praise God wherever he was at. He definitely owes New J some new carpet. He was going to sing with whatever choir was up that Sunday because he was probably up there nursing anyhow. Jerrod was a member of New Destiny, IV’s, Men’s, City Wide, Deliverance and Chozen Choirs. He was also on the Nurses Board, Sound Ministry (where he pulled his sisters into). He was also a part of the Mime Ministry, Millennials and Praise Team. As you can see, Jerrod was a faithful servant. New J was transitioning from the loss of Bishop, but God sent another faithful shepherd, the late Rev. Dr. Patrick W. Sanders Sr. Pastor Sanders trusted Jerrod until “the clock on the wall said that’s all yall.” Jerrod was a very hands on and dedicated to work. He loved children and the elderly, he even found himself working in a few care centers. One thing Jerrod was going to do was find a job. Jerrod worked at Mayfield Adult, GISD, Great Giant, Nexteer, Leer and Insight. He relocated to Raleigh, NC where he worked at Durham International Airport for Clear Plus. Jerrod enjoyed playing the keyboard, cooking especially making his special banana pudding. He got a kick out of scaring people and playfully arguing with Jada. Jerrod loved visiting his family and friends, and he had a way with the elderly women. He loved all his nephews and nieces but he was excited about the addition of his new nephew.
