Mrs. Eunita “Nita” Mixon-Wingfield, age 63, made her transition from labor to reward on Saturday, December 11, 2021. Nita was born on February 18, 1958 in Flint, Michigan. She was the seventh daughter of Booker T. Mixon and Pecolia (Conway) Mixon. Nita accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at First Trinity Missionary Baptist Church. Nita was educated through the Flint Community School System, attending Stewart Elementary and Whittier Junior High Schools. She graduated with Flint Southwestern High School’s Class of 1976. Nita furthered her education by attending Mott Community College, Baker College and Davenport University (formerly Detroit College of Business), which set her on a career path as a Payroll Specialist with the Hyatt Regency and Compliance Officer at GST Michigan Works (formerly Career Alliance). After working at Career Alliance for 10+ years, Nita went on to work for the Beecher Community School District. She held various positions at Beecher, from Administrative Assistant to classroom Paraprofessional. She often spoke of her most rewarding position as being that of the Summer Youth Program Coordinator where she helped Beecher Middle and High School students obtain summer jobs in the local community. Nita retired from the Beecher School System in 2021 to help care for her sister Helen. Nita enjoyed traveling, dining out with her family and friends and having guests in her home for holidays and birthdays. Most of all, Nita loved helping those in need.
