MCGAUGHY, Mr. Elbert Jr.- Age 70, passed away Sunday, February 6, 2022, at his residence. Family hour 12:30 PM Friday, February 18, 2022, at Grace Emmanuel Baptist Church, 3502 Lapeer Rd., with funeral service commencing at 1:00 PM Pastor Rabon Turner, officiating. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery, G-4200 Belford Rd., Holly, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 12:30 PM Friday. Mr. McGaughy will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Thursday with family present from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM to receive friends.Mr. Elbert L. McGaughy Jr. was born January 11, 1952 in Dyersburg, Tennessee, the son of Elbert Sr. and Ilovie McGaughy. Elbert was a resident of Burton, Michigan and a member of Grace Emmanuel Baptist Church. He received an Associate Degree from Detroit College of Business and a Bachelor Degree from Baker College of Flint. Elbert was Honorably Discharged from the United States Army. He worked and retired from Flint Truck & Bus, a division of General Motors Corporation after 31 years of service. Elbert was a member of UAW Local #598. He had a loved of all sports; he was an avid bowler, golfer and was inducted into the Bowlers Hall of Fame. Elbert enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Mr. Elbert L. McGaughy Jr. leaves to cherish his memory: loving wife, Nathania McGaughy who resided in Burton, MI for 241/2 years; daughter, Kharah (Mario) Harrison of Decatur, GA; 2 sons, Elbert (Nicole) McGaughy III of Atlanta, GA and Jhamall McGaughy; 3 step-children, Eugene McBride of Flint, LaDawn (Larry) Brinson of Atlanta, GA and Nicole Wilson of Flint; 21 grandchildren, of Georgia, Flint and Davison, MI; 5 great-grandchildren of Flint; mother, Ilovie McGaughy; sister, Anita (Leonard) Smalls of Rochester Hills, MI; 3 brothers, Joel (Kathy) McGaughy, Michael McGaughy, both of Flint and Darrell (Donna) McGaughy Sr. of Las Vegas, NV; 5 nephews; 4 nieces; 4 aunts; a host of cousins; 2 sisters-in-law, Sherry Richardson of Flint and Geraldene Foote of Dallas, TX; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Carl and Mary Cook of Mt. Morris, MI, Grady Walker of Atlanta, GA, Kermit Reeves and Robert Watkins of Flint. Mr. McGaughy was preceded in death by his father, Elbert McGaughy Sr.; grandparents, George and Gussie McGaughy, Mack and Belvie Wynne.
