JOHNSON, Mr. Edward Charles - Age 62, passed away Monday, January 31, 2022, at Sparrow Hospital, Lansing, MI. Mr. Johnson will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed Saturday, February 12, 2022, from 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM. Graveside service 1:30 PM at Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd.Mr. Edward Charles Johnson was born February 7, 1959 in Schlatter, Mississippi, the son of Catherine Johnson and John Ervin. In his childhood years he was the “Baby Boy” we all loved and cared for. He graduated from Beecher High School, Mt. Morris, Michigan. Later in life as a self-educated man he learned the ways of the world through religions, politics, African American history and the world at large. Edward was a great man in his own rights with an enormous personality, a big heart, a beautiful smile and one set of exquisite eyes, if you ever noticed. Edward was loved and will be remembered by many. To his only child, Edward Charles II, our heats are with you, he was our brother, our uncle and our friend. We are family and you are not alone, reach out to us and we are there right by your side thru it all. Mr. Edward Charles Johnson leaves to cherish his memory: son, Edward Charles Johnson II of Lansing, MI; 2 grandchildren, Enzo Jihad Johnson; daughter; unborn baby-girl Johnson; very special friend and mother of his son, Brandie Garling of South Bend, IN; brother, Robert Lee Johnson of San Diego, CA; sisters, Betty Joe (Sherwood) Pea of Flint, Gerlene Hasan of Las Vegas, NV, and Earnestine Johnson of Colorado Springs, CO; uncle, Eddie Jackson of Toledo, OH; aunts, Josephine Jackson and Shellie Jackson of Itta Bena, MS; 15 nieces and nephews, Clisson Jackie Johnson, A’Realle’ Pea, Sherwood Pea III, Tillman Pea Smith, Murray Jenkins Jr., Jamillah Hasan, Jamaad Hasan, Ahmad Hasan, Jameel Frank Hasan, Dexter Johnson, Kendall Johnson, Develin Jones, Deambra Jones Johnson and Clifford Jones Johnson; 33 great-nieces and great-nephews; 8 great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews; special brother, William Epps III of Flint; a host of extended family members and friends. Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his mother, Catherine Jackson Johnson; fathers, Vance Johnson Jr. and John Ervin; grandparents, May Laura Washington Jackson, Warner (Mary Brown) Jackson; sister, Betty Jean Johnson; brother, James Johnson; brother-in-law, Jameel Rashad Hasan; nieces and nephews, TaNisha Epps Johnson, Develin Jones Jr., Kennedy Johnson, Lavell Pea, and Rachelle Hatter Hasan; aunts, Henrietta Jackson Williams and Glover Love Jackson; uncles, Willie B. Jackson, Warner Jackson Jr.,and Earnest Jackson; uncles and aunts, Roy (Cora) Allen Jackson, Johnny (Rosie Spencer) Jackson; and life-long friend, Dave May.
