WATSON, Mr. Earl Sr. - Age 88, passed away Monday, March 7, 2022, at McLaren-Flint. Family hour 1:30 PM Friday, March 18, 2022, at Kingdom of Heaven Ministries, 2430 Dutcher Rd., with funeral service commencing at 2:00 Apostle Lonnie Brown, officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy., Mt. Morris, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 1:30 PM Friday. Mr. Watson will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Thursday, March 17, 2022. Mr. Earl Watson Sr. a.k.a. “Sunny”, was born March 23, 1933 in Moscow, Arkansas, the son of Ermaline Singleton. Earl moved to Muskegon, Michigan at the age of 4. He was a member of New Heaven Missionary Baptist Church. Earl attended Reeths Puffer School where he was a star football player. He was employed at Continental Motors Corporation before he was drafted in the United States Army in 1953, where he served in the Korean War. After returning from the war he moved to Flint, Michigan and was employed at General Motors Corporation for 40 years. After retiring, he worked at Mass Transportation Authority for 5 years. Earl then married Rosemary Moses on June 14, 2003. He was a hard worker and sharp dresser. Earl loved cars, sports, traveling, listening to the Blues, playing Bid Whist and loved baking German Chocolate Cake. He was a great debater and never met a stranger. Earl was a loyal and dedicated friend till the end. Mr. Earl Watson Sr. leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Rosemary Watson; 6 daughters and 2 sons, Alma Watson, Earl (Theresa) Watson Jr., Mary (Greg) Thompson, all of Flint, Patricia Watson of Fort Worth, TX, John Watson of Flint, Henrietta Hadley of Muskegon, MI and Sondretta Graham of Memphis, TN; step-daughter, Jeanette Betts of Muskegon, MI; 16 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Lillie Ward of Flint, Barbara (Dwight) Johnson, Cynthia Newsom, Valeria (Byron) Coleman, June A. Edmonds, Cherise Perkins, all of St. Louis, MO, and Sandra Lightfoot of Troy, MO; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends including special friends, James Stevens (like a brother), and Edna Green-Perry. Mr. Watson was preceded in death by his daughter, Darlene Watson; granddaughter, Tiphanie Mayfield; mother, Ermaline Singleton; mother-in-law, Vera A. Robertson; brothers-in-law, Randall L. Moses and Darryl Lightfoot.
