STONE, Mr. Donald Delain Jr. - Age 53, passed away Thursday, February 3, 2022, in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Family hour 11:00 AM Friday, February 18, 2022 at St. George Bethel C.O.G.I.C., 3801 M.L. King Ave., with funeral service commencing at 12:00 PM. Family and friends will assemble at the church 11:00 AM Friday. Mr. Stone will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Thursday.Mr. Donald Delain “Hutch” Stone Jr. was born December 21, 1968 to the union of Debra Lynn Jackson-Stone and Donald Delain Stone Sr. in Flint, Michigan. Donald accepted Christ at an early age and was saved and brought up under the leadership of his late Great- Grandfather, Superintendent T.R. Harris at Harris Temple Church of God In Christ. He attended Flint Community Schools and graduated from Flint Central High School, “Class of 1987”. Donald went on to attend the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety. He later earned a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Donald was employed by the City of Milwaukee for over 20 years where he proudly served in the roles of Operations Manager and Safety Consultant. In 2016, Mr. Stone went on to make history in Chattanooga, Tennessee by accepting and serving in the role of the first African American Deputy Administrator for the Department of Chattanooga Public Works. In light of his many accomplishments, he was most proud of becoming a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. of which he was very active and involved. Donald whom was affectionately called “Hutch” amongst his family and close friends was an avid and dedicated University of Michigan fan. His attire often consisted of him being adorned in his beloved colors of “Maize and Blue” or “Purple and Gold”. Hutch will be greatly missed and remembered, as he made a great and lasting impact upon all whom he encountered.“And in the end it's not the years in your life that count; it's the life in your years.” Mr. Donald Delain “Hutch” Stone Jr. leaves to cherish his memory: son, Donyell Stone- Sullivan of Phoenix, Arizona, three daughters, Brittany Stone of Goodyear, Arizona, Satriena Stone of Flint, Michigan, and Lauren Stone of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; beloved grandchildren, Tristin, Trienity, Trust, Riley, Micah, Gavin, and Terina; sisters, Traci Threlkeld, Darice (Reginald) Mack, and Dawanda Stone, all of Flint, Michigan; uncles, Robert “Bobby” Stone of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Pastor Michael ( Sharon) Stone, Herbert Stone, Jr, Steven Stone, Michael Jackson all of Flint, Kenneth ( Vanessa ) Stone, Bloomington, MN.; aunts, Nizell Jackson of Detroit, Michigan, Cynthia Gamble, Cynthia Stone, Ann Earnest, all of Flint, Michigan; favorite cousin Derrick “D-Bone” Harris; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends including best friends, Dorin “Pookie” Nelson, Mark “Marky D” Webster, Chris Wellington, and former-wife with whom he shared a special bond, Christy Stone. Mr. Stone was preceded in death by his parents Donald Delain Stone, Sr., Debra Lynn Jackson-Stone, Maryland Stone; grandparents, Wilda E. Newton, Napoleon Newton, Herbert Stone, Jr., Anna Mae Jackson, L. Gene Jackson; uncles, William “Billy” Stone, PreZel Gamble, Mitchell , Billy Randall, and Darryl Jackson.
